Crema's Take

This beloved Albuquerque institution has mastered the art of being both a quick coffee stop and a lingering lunch destination, where the boldly spiced New Mexican food rivals the coffee itself. Family-run with genuine warmth that makes regulars feel like they've known the owners since third grade, Cheese & Coffee Uptown serves up standout dishes like pozole and green chicken chili alongside expertly crafted drinks in a genuinely cozy atmosphere. It's the kind of place where locals gather for serious sandwiches and serious flavor, not just caffeine and convenience.

I’ve been a loyal customer at Cheese and Coffee since I was in the third grade, and it’s a place that truly feels like home. The atmosphere is wonderfully cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. From the moment you step inside, the owners always greet you with warm smiles! Their hospitality is something that keeps me coming back. Now, let’s talk about the food—especially the tuna melt. It’s hands down the best I’ve ever had! The flavors are always spot on, and the quality has remained consistently high over the years. It’s a dish I can always count on to satisfy my cravings. If you’re looking for a delightful dining experience in a friendly environment, Cheese and Coffee is definitely worth a visit!

This cafe don't hold back on spice! And I'm here for it! I was passing through town when I needed a bite to eat, the food was great the Pozole and Turkey Pastrami where perfectly seasoned and spiced! I would argue this is the first in a while where I went to a cafe and the food had a great personality. My waitress was also very kind and welcoming providing me samples of the soup of the day. Worth the pit stop

A friend of mine recommended this spot for their green chicken chili so I was bummed to find out that they were sold out. I ended up getting the Reuben and a Greek salad to go. I was pleased with both. It was Delicious and the portions were just right. The staff was friendly and serviced me as soon as I walked in. I’m reserving the additional star for when I get to actually try the green chicken chili otherwise I enjoyed the spot.

“Love Your Lunch” is a perfectly fitting slogan for this homely family sandwich shop. It’s clear the staff at Cheese & Coffee have worked hard to make this a lunch spot worthy of all the awards they proudly display on their walls. Eating here reminds me of my hometown, the familiar brick and wooden walls, understated decor, and lively ambience of peak lunch time bring me back to simpler times. The food is, as expected, fantastic. The wait times were not long, and the value you can get out of a signature sandwich and choice of soup/salad is very fair. If I lived here, Cheese & Coffee would be one of my go-to lunch spots. Pictured: Hot Big Apple sandwich w/ Apple Waldorf salad.

This place was amazing, the food was fantastic, and the service was way above normal expectations. It is run by a family and they make you feel like you're a part of it. I went in the day before mother's Day and they even gave me a flower before I left. My daughter and I enjoyed our lunch together, she had the Sicilian sandwich with a strawberry Italian soda, I had the focaccia sandwich, and we got the sweet n' spicy chicken sandwich to go. They all came with a side of green chili chicken soup. We will definitely be back.
