Crema's Take

The mango sorbet matcha and ube matcha here are revelatory—bright, balanced, and nothing like the cloyingly sweet versions you've had elsewhere—made by a team that genuinely cares about every drink that leaves the counter. This Wicker Park spot started as a pop-up and finally landed a brick-and-mortar with a speakeasy-style entrance, a free coworking space on Wednesdays, and excellent pastries, making it perfect for a slow afternoon or meeting a friend who actually wants good conversation and better coffee.

What to expect

Strong matcha and tea selection, with creative signature drinks. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Pastries on the menu.

The location was easy to find and I found the staff to be welcoming. I got the mango sorbet matcha and it wasn’t too sweet, perfect actually and I love that I got to go home with some stickers

Incredible high quality matcha and the nicest staff around. They have free mental health stickers, a coworking space (free) on Wednesdays, and some awesome bakery! Also, they have the best rooftop/patio view!

The best matcha and drinks from a, “pop-up” that I’m so glad they finally have a brick and mortar for the public! A must when you’re in wicker!

I love the speakeasy vibes of getting to Hawa- it’s in a great location easily accessible right off the Blue line which is great. I tried the Ube Matcha and the Black Sesame Hojicha. The Matcha turned out more bitter than expected which the owner said was likely a heavy pour…
