Crema's Take

Kinship Café feels like a hidden gem tucked into Milwaukee's restored Gimbels building, where a genuinely attentive staff guides you toward better choices—like steering you away from the wrong sauce to something that'll actually delight your palate. Their scratch-made menu shines with standouts like the Southwest Veggie Bowl and inventive specialty drinks (their chai is seriously celebrated), plus they've got solid coffee backing it all up, making it equally perfect for a solo work session or lingering over breakfast with friends. The retro-meets-upscale vibe paired with their care for detail and inclusive vegan options creates a space where you'll want to stay a while.

Everything was amazing, one of the best chais I've had in MKE. Plus they tell you when you've ordered the wrong sauce and give you a way better one. 10/10

Cool retro vibe in restored Gimbel's, now Thrive On. Great place to take a friend or hang out by yourself. Kinship Cafe has exceptional food. My go to is the Southwest Veggie Bowl with extra roasted sweet potatoes. The tangy, creamy, and spicy sauces for the salad are bursting with flavor, yet they don't overpower the tastes of the bowl ingredients. Cold brew coffee is strong and nutty.

I ordered a Mockery Chicken and after 2 bites, I thought to myself 'this doesn't taste like it did last time' (last time being about 2 months or so ago). So I asked a woman behind the cafe counter about it and she confirmed the recipe did change from the last time I came. Her name was Maddy & she was really kind, patient and helpful! Ended up getting the Grilled Tofu Banh Mi instead and it was REAL good. Grateful for the good food and excellent service. Will be back

Delicious food in a spacious casually upscale atmosphere. House made scratch recipes across the board with vegan options and coffee bar served by a warm welcoming staff.
