Crema's Take
“This cozy Chicago gem excels at both coffee and pastries, with the Salted Caramel Shaken Espresso and house-made cakes like the pistachio milk cake earning genuine devotion from regulars. Owner Zaidi and his team create an unusually warm welcome in a intimate bar-seating space lined with windows, making it equally suited for a solo coffee ritual or meeting a friend over matcha. The thoughtfully crafted specialty drinks and pastry cases suggest real care goes into every order, which explains why people keep coming back.”

I’ve been meaning to stop by this place for some time now. The atmosphere inside is super cozy, and it’s a great place for a coffee/matcha. Syed was super welcoming, so please stop by and try their drinks. One note, you’ll have to ask for an extension if you want to work from your laptop.
Zaidi the owner is a very sweet man! They always greet you right when you walk in, and if there’s a wait they let you know they will be with you momentarily. So many options for flavors! Lots of sugar free syrups which I love for matcha. Overall very pleasant experience!!!
The reviews for this place are excellent and it’s always seemed like a cute local spot, so I was excited to try it out. However, it was rather disappointing. Very few options for food so we just got coffee, and opted for the Valentines lattes, one hot one iced. The barista had trouble remembering our order and seemed a bit confused about the menu overall. My latte, the raspberry mocha, came out very watery and warm with very little ice in it, and the syrups weren’t mixed into the espresso and so were all stuck at the bottom. They were too thick to mix properly into the drink, so each sip was either bitter or far too sweet. It did have a nice raspberry flavor at least, possibly made in house? But all of the other syrups were store bought. My girlfriend’s white chocolate strawberry latte had barely any foam, and was cloyingly sweet. Not terrible by any means, but also not worth the money. They had alternative milk options but all Costco brand— for a latte at a cafe you’d expect to see a barista blend oat milk at least, as the Costco stuff doesn’t foam and tastes terrible. It’s also the cheapest one you can buy. The seating was fine but the space is pretty tiny, not a spot to linger in. All of the syrups are monin brand, there’s no bathroom, the drinks are average, and overall I don’t see anything about this shop that makes it feel local or unique, or justifies the price. It is by no means the worst coffee I’ve had in the city, but far from great. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things.
The Salted Carmel Shaken Espresso + Pistachio Milk Cake are literally life changing. Small space with bar seating - lots of windows so it distracts you from the winter. Will definitely back - seriously delicious!
Fantastic coffee shop with the most lovely owners! We found this place by accident and were so glad we did. Their flat white was excellent, and so was the multi-layered honey cake: a true delicacy, with a fine and subtle honey taste and a very well balanced sweetness. The place has a warm and cozy decor, but what really made it stand out was the incredibly friendly owners, a sweet couple who had taken over the place just eight days before our visit. What a pleasure to meet such genuine and hospitable people! We wish them every success and can wholeheartedly recommend their coffee shop to everyone who’s looking not only for a quick caffeine fix or daily dosage of sweet treats, but also for a truly warm and welcoming atmosphere.
