Crema's Take

Nestled in Hood River, Mt. Hood Roasters punches well above what you'd expect from a roadside stop, with an Afterburner hot chocolate that's earned legendary status among travelers and a surprisingly sophisticated cappuccino that balances warmth with earthy complexity. The friendly crew clearly takes pride in both their espresso work and creative drinks like their wild berry banana smoothie, making this a destination worth the detour whether you're hiking nearby or passing through on your way to Seattle. Even their decaf espresso is thoughtfully executed, and the cozy atmosphere—with sun-soaked outdoor seating when weather permits—makes it the kind of place where you leave with both a full cup and a bag of beans.

Afterburner hot chocolate was out of this world!!! Highly recommend. Not too sweet, chocolately and packs a punch. I enjoyed it best savoring one sip at a time… waiting in between for my mouth to recover ( i found it totally tolerable- not painful! ) otherwise I wouldn’t have tasted the chocolate in the subsequent sip.

What a cute little coffee spot we found on our way to Seattle. Great coffee and a lovely friendly atmosphere. We stopped again on our way home and bought a gift for our neighbor. This will be our go to coffee stop on our way to Portland and points beyond from now on.

We stopped for an afternoon coffee after a hike and were glad they were open and had decaf expresso. No indoor seating but we find a spot in the sun outside. The iced coffee our friends ordered was good. However, the hot lattes we ordered were half full and mostly foam. When my husband asked, the staff said that's how they're made. We won't be back.

Great little coffee shop nestled in the charming town of Rhododendron. Stopped in for a couple of coffees with my partner and ended up walking away with a drip coffee, iced coffee, and a bag of beans. The coffee was tasty and we are pumped to try the whole bean coffee. Will definitely be back. Thanks, Mt. Hood Roasters!
