I found The Painted Tea Cup online in a search for a special holiday get-together venue. Upper Darby was fairly central for all of us, and the tearoom was nicely located near route 1 and not far from route 3, in a nice residential area. The personal attention and service was wonderful, from the time I called to make a reservation to the time our party dispersed, full of tea, delicious treats and goodwill to all. The whole experience lifted our spirits on a bleak day. The owner Mary and her staff members were so friendly and helpful, and everything was so good, from the special holiday teas to the delicate sandwiches and desserts. Many nice items for sale throughout the space, and we were able to get a private room for six, a very nice bonus. We will definitely return!
For my 70th birthday, my girlfriend, Karen, and a few of my other friends got together, and we went to The Painted Tea Cup. We felt welcomed from the very minute we arrived. The tea choices were many! The plate was absolutely delicious. The dessert was impressive! If you haven’t ever been to a tea room or are searching for one, you can’t go wrong by choosing this location. An absolutely wonderful afternoon.
What a lovely day my mom and I had celebrating her 90th Birthday! Special thanks to Mary, Bernadette, and Susan for making this a memorable day! The food was amazing, such a nice variety of tasty treats on our plate. This was my first time experiencing High Tea and I just loved it! The boutique has lovely accessories and clothing. The house itself is charming and beautiful. During these stressful times, this is the perfect place to relax and recharge and enjoy your favorite tea and delicious food selections. Thanks Again!
I have driven by this establishment for years, and finally visited a few days ago. The interior is very dainty and cute, it would be a nice place to shop for a gift. High tea is $33 a person, and you each get a choice of tea, a lunch plate, and a dessert plate. I personally would have liked a more robust selection of teas, but their selection (although limited) is still quite good. The tea menu had 1 black tea, 1 no-caffeine black tea blend, 1 green tea, 1 earl grey white tea, 1 rooibos tea. The lunch plate had about 7-8 items, includes a scone, a sweet bread, and a chicken salad croissant. The dessert plate had 3 mini desserts. They also served a tea biscuit at the beginning of the tea session. I wish they served more jam and clotted cream since the serving they gave was for the table and not an individual serving. Overall, I think it was a very good experience. I think the quality of the food is top-notch, I just personally think the quantity could have been increased for the price, since they serve bites rather than full servings. I would be open to visiting again for their seasonal offerings next season.
I had the pleasure of visiting this cute spot for a "solo" afternoon tea. The tea was delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed the finger sandwiches and sweets. While the scone wasn't the best that I ever had, as I prefer biscuit-like scones, it was still good. They sell a lot of tea accessories and even boutique-style clothing. It was worth the hour drive, and I would absolutely recommend it.
