Revisited, had an amazing breakfast experience with nobody there. I could see why people fell in love with this place. My recommendation is to get in early.

Good food. I got the chicken and ginger jook (the added crispy and warm you tiao was a nice touch) and my husband got the Szechuan tofu with rice and greens. I thought the house side salad had too much dressing, which I ended up wiping away. Service was friendly and helpful. I was not a big fan of the cavernous, noisy, bustling cafe atmosphere. Too much echoing and running around for my taste.

The Wooly Pig sandwich was a let down. Too much meat and not enough crunch from the arugula; the flavors and the textures were out of balance. The texture reminded me of pulled pork rather than sliced pork belly, which was how it was advertised on the menu (“Shanghai-style braised caramel pork belly”). More arugula and more pickled onion would’ve helped this sandwich immensely. Or even a few shreds of pickled cabbage because the arugula is too delicate to balance out the pork. The shrimp chips were the best part of the meal.

The food looks a lot better, but I forgot to take pictures until halfway through eating the delicious meal! We got the Szechuan chicken and curry udon - every bite was an explosion of flavor. The restaurant fully beat my expectations (admittedly, I was a bit confused about what the food would be like going in) 😬 but everything was amazing. Would highly recommend!!!!
