Crema's Take

This entirely gluten-free bakery and espresso bar in Traverse City has become a pilgrimage destination for people with celiac disease and dietary restrictions, finally offering a safe space to enjoy exceptional pastries and espresso drinks without compromise. The chocolate lavender donuts and thoughtfully crafted specialty pastries pair beautifully with their espresso-focused coffee program, all served in a welcoming atmosphere that feels genuinely intentional about accessibility rather than performative. Whether you're staying for a slow sit or grabbing something to go, Third Coast delivers the kind of warmth and skill that makes people drive back repeatedly—some traveling from out of town specifically for this place.

I had never been to Third Coast Bakery but I had heard great things about it, especially since it was gluten free. I have had celiacs disease for quite a few years now and haven't been able to enjoy treats like cake, cookies, and donuts. The lemon cake and donut I had from this bakery were amazing! The guy at the register was very friendly and helpful when picking out treats. I highly recommend visiting this bakery if you are gluten free, dairy free, or vegan!

We visited Third Coast for the first time on Saturday and immediately went back Sunday, too. The pastries, sandwiches, and espresso-based drinks are delicious and the service is top notch: kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. We can’t wait to make this a regular stop!

So delicious! I recently had to start eating dairy and soy free. We found this bakery and thought we’d give it a try. The chocolate lavender donut was so moist and flavorful - it’s not in the photo because I ate it so fast. It was pricey but worth every penny. The banana walnut muffin was just as amazing. I’ve been craving a good muffin and this is it!

Gluten free establishment, so safety is not a concern. Yay! Unfortunately, they only had sweet treats available and some of their bagels in a jar (w/ no lid?) I am traveling and would have liked to drop some $$$ to take some dedicated GF breads and items the that are more difficult to find home with me, when I asked the baristas they seemed unsure of the answer and ultimately let me know that I need 3 days of notice to order things like breads and such. Hopefully they can offer some of their goods frozen in the future for traveling GF like me 😁 I ordered two of their bagel melts to go so that I could enjoy a unique treat specific to third coast bakery.

I am thankful this place exists! I’ve been GF/vegan for almost 10 years now and I’ve been coming here from out of town religiously for the last 4-5 years. I’ve had a graduation cake made here, tried as many different donuts as I can, eaten the cookies, the brownies, the premade pizza crust, the scones, you name it. The fresh bagels and bagel sandwiches are top tier. Their speciality drinks are the best and I love never having to worry about accidentally being given dairy. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. What a holy grail for GF people!
