The Crumpet Shop
1503 1st Ave, Seattle, WA
Crema's Take
“Tucked into Pike Place Market, this quirky neighborhood gem specializes in British crumpets—those wonderfully spongy griddle cakes that are nearly impossible to find in the US—with an impressive variety of both sweet toppings like Nutella and savory options like the Vermont. Beyond the crumpets themselves, it's the unhurried, cozy atmosphere that keeps people coming back, whether you're settling in with unlimited tea refills and a pastry or meeting a friend for an extended coffee break. With a genuinely warm local Seattle vibe and consistently excellent execution, it punches well above its small-shop size.”

It’s a cute and small coffee place! I luv it! Crumpets are known as a classic British griddle cake made from a flour and yeast batter with a spongy twist. I chose the one with the Nutella topping. 🍫 This was my first time trying a crumpet, and I was amazed by its texture and taste—with a little bit of savory notes along with the sweetness. The Earl Grey tea was also nice.
First crumpet in my life and it doesn’t disappoint! Yumm! Grab the unlimited tea refills too and pause to enjoy the experience. I ate the basic butter and honey crumpet. And had 2 refills of tea as it was delicious and I was thirsty, haha. I’ll be back!
A peculiar store with local Seattle vibe. Ordered the Vermont crumpet. The crumpet is quite salty and on the harder side and the topping is sweet. Not my favorite type of carb, but definitely still worth trying.
I’ve been to Pike Place market many times, but this was my first time stopping at the crumpet shop. I have definitely been missing out! I ordered the Vermont with a small Matcha latte and it really hit the spot after a long drive from Portland. The staff seemed super cool, too. I can’t wait to come back and try a different crumpet!
Crumpets are so very good and yet hard to find in the US. This place is a treasure! Their menu features a huge variety of savory and sweet crumpets. I ordered a Vermont, and it was divine. Along with that, I had their shop tea blend, which was quite good—milder than Earl Grey, and refreshing to start the day. Be aware that there is little seating inside. There may be a line, but they prepare the food fast.
