Crema's Take

From Lucie is a charming East Village dessert destination where elevated pastries and cakes steal the spotlight—think moist carrot cake, buttery croissants, and show-stopping custom cakes that impress as much with their presentation as their flavor. The intimate, people-watching-friendly space invites you to linger over coffee and their small but mighty pastry menu, though service can be hit-or-miss. It's the kind of place that draws devoted followers from across the country and feels like a delicious secret worth discovering.

Stumbled into this adorable dessert shop in the East Village — cozy with a small corner to sit, perfect for people watching. However, the register was quite rude when I asked about the cake ingredients, etc. Ordered their gluten-free carrot cake and found it s bit dry? Perhaps I came too late in the day (cakes sitting out) but when I brought the stale quality to the register’s attention, her attitude became even more harsh. Otherwise, beautifully decorated cakes that you can tell were made with love!

Best carrot cake — moist, flavorful, and unforgettable! From Lucie is a lovely café with a cozy, charming vibe. The pastries are absolutely delicious — fresh, buttery, and beautifully made — and the coffee pairs perfectly with them. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A great spot to relax and enjoy quality coffee and pastries!”

As a Chicago foodie, I love exploring all the small food businesses in other cities and this was a stop I had to make! Their pastry menu is small but mighty with very elevated mini cakes and amazing cookies. I had their chocolate chip cookie (9/10) - large, thin and crispy but still a little soft in the middle with large chocolate chunks. My only regret is wishing they were warm when I ate it! I also tried the almond croissant cookie, which was not my type of cookie but still made very well and of course an interesting combo. If you’re an almond lover, you’ll love the flavor profile. I also had their vanilla cake which is not as simple as it sounds. It was a very beautiful layered cake with blackberry jam and buttercream topped with fresh flowers and a dry pear slice. Can’t wait to go back!

the perfect birthday cake!!! I was truly blown away not only by the presentation but the flavor and quality of the cake. I ordered a 1/4 Chocolate Cake Salted Dark Chocolate Espresso Buttercream and it lived up to all expectations. It was the perfect chocolate flavor, nicely balanced with a salty espresso flavor. The 1/4 sheet was perfect for a group of 16 with some left overs! Pick up was smooth, the cake was ready early so we had flexibility to pick up. The staff were great at the shop. Overall, very happy with the experience and would 100% recommend to a friend!!

We were in the area looking for a sweet treat and came across From Lucie. Initially we were only going to try the chocolate chip cookie but the almond croissant cookie sounded too intriguing to ignore. The chocolate chip cookie was good, I’m personally not a fan of salt on top of cookies but I know it’s a popular thing. The almond croissant cookie was amazing in my opinion. I thought it was perfectly sweet and a great fusion treat. Their other pastries look good too and I’d love to come back and try more!
