Dead Low Cafe is a beach-town favorite that consistently nails espresso-focused drinks, with baristas who take real care in crafting everything from perfectly pulled flat whites to creative specialty beverages. As someone who has been a barista for a bit, whenever I am away from home I am always looking for a good coffee shop. Dead Low truly never disappoints when I’m visiting the area! The baristas are consistently welcoming, kind, and really talented and knowledgeable at what they do!! Coffee is truly some of the best I’ve ever had. The food is also to die for!! I’ll never get over their musubi. Cute little seating area in the back and always such good music playing. If you’re in the area you have to go!!

Chill vibe. I was willing to try something new, but I wasn’t a fan of the bean sprouts on a bagel. Coffee was good. There are picnic tables outside next to the trash cans.

We stopped by Dead Low Café as our first stop before hitting the beach, and it turned out to be a cozy little gem. The food was solid across the board, but the standout for most of us, was the avocado sandwich with beets; fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly satisfying. I had the chia pudding, which I really enjoyed. It had a nice balance of fruit and granola, though a touch more of each would’ve taken it to the next level. My son went for the BEC sandwich and gave it a big thumbs up. One friend tried the matcha latte but wasn’t too impressed…it seemed to be missing that bold, earthy matcha kick. Another friend had the salmon bagel and liked it, so overall, we had a good mix of hits. Thankfully, there was no long line when we arrived, which made the experience even better. The space itself is small and intimate, with just a couple of tables tucked in the back and a few more out front. It’s the kind of spot that feels laid-back and local, perfect for a quick bite before a beach day.

The long line out the door and around the corner is worth standing in! Wow! We are vacationing and we’re so impressed with their morning drinks! We even got an açaí bowl that was heavenly. We had planned to grab breakfast elsewhere, but by the looks of it, their sandwiches would have been amazing!! A great stop on your morning walk for sure!

Death Low Café totally nailed my go-to drink—a flat white—and I was genuinely impressed. The coffee was superb, easily one of the best I had on the trip. The staff were super friendly, and the café has a great laid-back vibe right by the beach. They also serve a light brunch, which was perfect for a quick and easy bite. If you’re at Folly Beach, this spot is definitely worth a visit!
