Crema's Take

Pulley Coffee Bar is an espresso-focused shop that does one thing and does it well: crafting quality traditional and specialty drinks without the noise of food service or distractions. The passionate staff genuinely cares about their craft and customers, earning devoted praise from those seeking serious, well-executed coffee in a city that often disappoints on the brew.

Hands down the best coffee I have been able to find in NYC! And the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. I moved to Australia a couple of years ago (and those who have been there will recognize that their coffee culture is top notch and it’s hard to tolerate coffee elsewhere once you have got used to Aussie coffee standards). This shop is the first one in US which matches that standard! I really can’t believe the low ratings here.

Food: 2 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Value: 2 Stars Overall: 2.5 Stars I stopped by Pulley Coffee Bar recently to try their elderberry hibiscus iced tea. The drink is floral… really floral, to the point where it almost overpowers the subtle notes you’d expect from the elderberry and hibiscus. The flavour itself was okay, but not particularly memorable. It felt more like a novelty than a standout beverage. I appreciate a creative twist, but this one missed the mark for me. While the bar itself has a nice aesthetic and the staff were friendly, the drink itself felt basic and not something I’d rush back for. Overall, Pulley Coffee Bar is fine for a quick, but if you’re looking for something with depth or a strong flavour profile, this elderberry hibiscus iced tea isn’t it. xx kellychan360

I searched for a place that serves only coffee and espresso based drinks - all eggs in one basket, no distractions. And I'm so glad that I found Pulley. Excellent espresso base drinks, good people. Location/vibe is classic NYC, inside the Chelsea market. Plenty of food options nearby in the market. I'll be back again tomorrow thanks L.E. update - excellent hot chocolate and I'm particular about that.

Was not about to try this location after reading the review, but I wanted a coffee so bad that day. And I guess I was lucky to get a good experience. The staff was friendly, and my drink was better than my expectation. 🎃🧡✨Pumpkin spice cappuccino was what I asked for, switching their latte flavor to a regular cappuccino. The foam was not super creamy but instead, it was well blended into the drink becoming a thick and smooth texture. The flavor was also good, the sweetness balanced with coffee and milk.

Ordered my coffee before reading the reviews and have to say the coffee was great (flat white). I’ve been generally disappointed with NY coffee and was very happy with this. Service was excellent and the guy and girl behind the counter were happy, smiling and great to chat to so very surprised when I saw the reviews. I suspect down to 1 or 2 specific staff members they need to train or replace, but my experience was good!
