Crema's Take
“This tucked-away Whole Foods outpost takes espresso seriously, earning genuine praise for standout drinks like their rich, velvety mocha that keeps regulars coming back. While consistency can be hit-or-miss—particularly with milk ratios on creative drinks—the baristas clearly care about their craft and bring genuine warmth to the counter. It's the perfect spot for a specialty coffee boost while shopping, though arrive with realistic expectations about timing and know you won't linger in the space itself.”

Cafe Grumpy used to be such a sweet experience while shopping at Whole Foods. The baristas always do a nice job of preparing the drinks (I'm an oat latte type of gal) however, my complaint is the coffee itself. I don't know what happened to their espresso. It tastes stale in comparison to other coffee shops in the area (Starbucks, Paris baguette, or any of the dozens of places in Hoboken). I feel that their drinks used to just taste better and fresher. It would be good if they switched back to oatly for their drinks or used a different product b/c the one they presently use is watered down. As someone who's been going to this spot for years, it's just disappointing to see the quality go down.
Their Mocha coffee, in particular, has captured my heart (and taste buds!). The rich, velvety blend of coffee and chocolate creates a symphony of flavors that keeps me coming back for more. It's the perfect balance of bold and sweet, making it a comforting indulgence that never fails to brighten my day.
Untraditional vanilla latte, to say the least. Perhaps the most disappointing coffee I have had. The ratio of coffee to milk was not good (not enough milk) but that exposed unpleasant coffee flavor. Beyond that, I think the vanilla flavor comes from the addition of ground vanilla pods. While that is innovative, it did not give much flavor and left unpleasant grounds throughout the coffee. Barista was pleasant. Service was quick. No place to sit inside.
It is 5:45 and the Barista is not here yet. I would pick up other coffee in Whole Foods then.
Little coffee shop inside Whole Foods that serves good coffee. It’s convenient to grab a coffee while you shop here. The people are friendly and accommodating. There are no seats around so don’t expect to enjoy the coffee seating. It’s not crowded and the people working here are pretty fast
