Crema's Take

Shady Bend Cafe is a nostalgic neighborhood gem in a historic building where everything from the meatloaf to the pie is made from scratch, creating that rare experience of genuinely home-cooked food that keeps locals coming back. The staff treats you like family, the portions are generous and affordable, and their made-to-order hot chocolate is the kind of comforting detail that makes this spot feel like stepping back in time.

A Local spot. The atmosphere takes you back in time with the landmark building. The customer service makes you feel right at home. They make a hot chocolate that will warm up any day & the have actual sweet tea. Not unsweet that you have to add sugar. Debbie the owner can be found servicing customer. She as sweet as ever. Stop on by and make this a regular stop

We let our daughter decide where we had breakfast while we were in town and she chose Shady Bend. We were beyond impressed! Everything was homemade, including the pie! We've eaten at a lot of diners, but this is, hands down, the best one we've tried!

The meatloaf special was delicious. Service was great. We didn't have to ask for anything because she was there. She kept empty plates removed. But the best part of the meal was the potato soup!!

I love this place so much. I go here every time I come to Grand Island. They actually cook their own food which is getting to be so rare. It taste like delicious old-fashioned good home-cooked food all of it. I love the daily specials. The desserts are fancy and delicious. The salad bar is always fresh. On top of all that is very inexpensive. The service is so friendly and the atmosphere is authentic and historical and cozy.
