Warique is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic Peruvian cuisine prepared with precision and care. The food is vibrant, fresh, and beautifully executed. The Ceviche Mixto was bright and perfectly balanced, with impeccably fresh seafood and a clean, citrus-forward leche de tigre. The Pescado a lo Macho was rich and deeply satisfying, layered with shrimp, mussels, and calamari in a luxurious sauce that had depth without being heavy. El Lomo delivered classic comfort — tender beef, perfectly cooked fries, and caramelized onions that brought everything together harmoniously. What stood out most was the freshness. Everything is prepared right in front of you, giving a sense of transparency and craftsmanship. You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. The space itself is intimate and warm, with counter seating that allows you to watch the kitchen in action. The open kitchen adds an engaging, almost theatrical element to the experience, while still feeling relaxed and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where attention to detail is evident not just in the plates, but in the atmosphere. If you’re looking for elevated Peruvian flavors in a cozy, chef-driven environment, Warique delivers beautifully.
We are at Warique and every dish was absolutely delicious. The presentations were beautiful and the quality was outstanding. It was a wonderful experience to enjoy Peruvian cuisine at this level. The atmosphere and service were excellent as well. We will definitely be coming back. thank you to the entire team❤️
Came across Warique during a quick search when we didn’t have time to make it to another Peruvian spot we originally planned to visit, and I’m so glad this one popped up. It delivered wonderfully. The restaurant is small, maybe 10 tables at most. When we arrived, they asked if we had a reservation (we didn’t), but thankfully we were seated quickly. We sat at the one table that was open. The bar was also open which faces the kitchen and gives the patron a front‑row view of the cooking. The service was great and very personal. During dessert, the chef even came over to speak with us, which I found to be such a meaningful touch. The food was excellent, well cooked, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. I ordered the carapulcra con pollo and it was delicious. My husband had the Ribeye a lo pobre and was genuinely impressed with how perfectly it was cooked. The flavors were surprisingly rich and memorable. It is also BYOB. There are just two small downsides: • Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s street parking and a residential area. • The ventilation(exhaust system in cooking area)could be better, you will leave smelling like whatever’s cooking, especially since you can watch the food being prepared right in front of you. Other than those two things, we absolutely plan on returning. A great find.
We came here for Valentine’s Day and had an incredible experience. Firstly the atmosphere is wonderful, with touches of Peru hinted in every corner and the intimate seating arrangement you get the energy of a warique (hole-in-the-wall) with the delivery of a refined restaurant. The staff was prompt, friendly, and even with all tables packed they stayed smooth, collaborative and delivered a lasting experience for each guest. The kitchen is an open-format and we had a front row seat to the magic that was being created. Everything is clean, organized, and made fresh. We watched the assembly of every plate done with passion and precision. We even lucked out as a fresh batch of chicha was brewing creating endlessly delicious aromas in the restaurant. Additionally for the holiday they had adorable touches of love from a rose handed to you at the door, hearts on the napkins and worn by the staff, down to a rose pasta that was beyond delicious. Speaking of the food, this is most importantly the highlight of this quaint location. Chef Roberto and his talented sous made each dish with the love you expect from traditional Peruvian food and the modern flair of a new generation. With each bite we were transported back to Lima through fresh seafood and traditional ingredients. But the beauty of Chef Roberto’s menu is he’s added his own spin to each dish so while you feel like youve had the food before you’re actually experiencing an elegant, elevated new meal where the journey of your tastebuds can still be endlessly unexpected. Hands down, we will be back again and again to continue exploring the ever-changing menu and hearing more of Chef Roberto’s stories!
I have no idea where to begin - this place is absolutely fabulous! Atmosphere - the space is cozy, and they maximized their space great. The chef’s counter is a great feature with the open kitchen, highly recommend sitting there if it’s your first time! The chefs themselves, oh man. You can instantly tell their high level of experience. Even when it picked up, no yelling, service was so smooth, and they ran the kitchen like the place had been open 5 years, not 5 weeks. Food - the dishes were so filling you could’ve rolled us out of there happily. Even the starters were greatly portioned - the quinoa crusted cod was so good that could’ve been a main. As go the mains, this is elevated dining with nostalgic feel. The fish and short ribs were plated well, and tasted like an experienced chef made it, and then you add the side bowl of rice, and it brought me back to my grandmother’s kitchen. It was the perfect blend of nostalgia and refinement, and I hope the chef’s know how special it was for us to experience it. It was my boyfriend’s birthday, and he left so happy. The chef was also gifting a bottle of coquito made with his late father’s recipe! Truly a new gem in Belleville and everyone needs to try it!!
