Crema's Take

Schlok's brings a casual, no-fuss energy to the Financial District with freshly toasted bagels and thoughtfully composed sandwiches like their herb lemon and lox on poppy—though you're paying premium prices for the convenience and quality. The spot shines as a quick morning grab where the atmosphere is cute and clean, and regulars appreciate it as a reliable neighborhood addition, even if bagel opinions vary on whether the dough hits the mark. Come here for the lox sandwiches and the vibe of a proper bagel shop, but go in expecting to spend closer to twenty dollars for a quality breakfast.

Cute and clean spot. My veggie bagel sandwich was not what I was expecting, so so sweet are all the pickled veggies. Bagels were very doughy.

I ordered the herb, lemon & lox sandwich on a toasted poppy bagel with light aioli. It was amazing. A bit expensive for what you get but well worth it if you need a good breakfast on the go.

TLDR: $20 for a half filled lox bagel is pretty ridiculously overpriced I tried three different bagels here and nothing about the bagels specifically stood out to me. As for the toppings, I got the salmon one which is the one of the most expensive ones and it was a super thin layer of salmon, not worth the $$ they charged. The pastrami itself was ok but needed something to cut the fat

Love that they've finally brought their bagels to the Fidi. Another great spot to start my mornings!

A nice addition to the Financial District. The bagel I got (a salmon, cream cheese, scallion option called the “Smoked Ends,” which they describe as perfect for salt lovers) was good, although I ordered it fully toasted and it could have sat in the toaster longer for my liking. It also had a strong lemon taste I’m not really into. They have a lot to choose from including brisket and egg options. The schtick is you order at a terminal (which was clean and easy to navigate) and then they call your order out when it’s ready (or text you if you provide a number.) Plenty of seating and a lot of staff working behind the counter to make things. The guy who handed me my bagel was curt and I wished he had offered me some napkins because I soon came to find I really needed them as I walked and ate my bagel! This was technically a soft launch, I think, so I’ll give them time to work out some kinks.
