Crema's Take
“This beloved Amherst bakery-café is a genuine gathering place where freshly baked sourdough and scratch-made pastries steal the show, while their thoughtfully expansive vegan menu ensures everyone finds something to linger over. Whether you're settling in with your laptop for hours, bringing the family for a full breakfast, or grabbing a shareable corn pancake drowning in pure maple syrup, the warm service and inviting atmosphere make it feel less like a transaction and more like coming home to a place that actually cares about doing things right.”

We just stopped and got some fresh made sour dough bread. My family is very impressed with how much favorite the bread has. I have fond memories in middle school of taking busses downtown and transferring uptown and getting off the bus before hitting uptown to go to the French Meadow bakery. We would then walk the rest of the way uptown after eating at the French Meadow Bakery. One of the few places then to get a vegetarian meal. I remember getting a window seat watching people go by eating hot homemade soup and fresh homemade bread.
I recently ate at French Meadow Cafe & Bluestem Bar and had a really enjoyable meal. They have a large number of vegan options, which makes it a great spot for anyone looking for plant based choices. I tried their dark chocolate sea salt cookie, which was rich and flavorful without being overly sweet. I also ordered a side of fruit, which was fresh and a nice complement to the meal. For my entree, I had a creamy mushroom pasta. I don’t remember the exact name, but it was very good and comforting, with a nice balance of creaminess and flavor. Overall, everything was well prepared, and I would definitely come back to try more from their menu.
Tried out French Meadow for the first time! Lots of options for breakfast along with the pastry and cake selections. Corn pancake - shareable for 2, add butter and put the pure maple syrup on it. It elevates the flavor of the pancake! Eggs Benedict - peppery but delicious hollandaise sauce and the hash browns were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside
Had a delightful dinner here after a show at the Orpheum, the options were fresh, allergy friendly, and the service was professional and kind. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food. Their vegan chocolate rose cake was such a treat!
Been here several times before. There are several locations, and this one on Lyndale is close to lots of retail shops and restaurants. There are plenty of seating options, including patio seating outside, indoor seating by the coffee area, or a more formal sit-down dining area with servers. Usually there is a line to place an order, but this time it was quiet. To order, they have a large wall-mounted menu board, or hard copy menus you can study at your table. The pastry case on the left as you approach the cashier is filled with croissants, muffins, scones, and other baked goods, with plenty of amazing choices. To the right are the more formal desserts, including cakes, tortes, and tarts. I ordered a London Fog Tea Latte (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam). Normally I would get it in a mug, but we had to dash off. The barista did a nice job with steeping the tea and creating the extra foam. Next time we will stay for breakfast. A very nice place for breakfast, big or small.
