You know when you find a place that is so good that you’re on the fence about posting a review because you don’t want it to get sooo busy you can’t get in during peak hours. Well this is one of those places. Simple, sweet, and absolutely delicious home made baked goods, with a different specialty item daily. Haven’t tried the fresh baked breads yet but they look and smell so good you can practically taste them. You won’t even be able to decide which pastry to choose - don’t cheat yourself, try one of each because you won’t break the bank as these treats are very reasonable. They also offer an array of delicious coffees and smoothies so stop wasting your time and money in line at Starbucks and Smoothie King and come to this delicious family owned bakery conveniently located right off University Pkwy. It’s an amazing local business with a story, a heart, and perfect pastries that they’ll serve warm or cool, with a side of butter or straight up and always with a friendly smile. We wish them tremendous success!

We were excited to try out this highly reviewed German bakery. Our favorite German dessert is the black forest cake. We were told that we needed to order it in advance, and we did just that as there were no slices available to see or purchase. We got it today, and upon opening the box, the bright red cherries (maraschino?) had our excitement tempered. Upon cutting the cake, our disappointment started to settle in fast. It was firm and not easy to cut. We all literally had a few bites of the slices we cut out and tossed our slices and the cake. The cake was not moist - neither was the cream - as it should be light and airy. Beyond that, the lack of the deep dark cherries typically used in this cake was a big disappointment. The bottom layer of cherries and the jam felt like it was frozen. It was overall a horrible experience. Less than a bite of the slices eaten and the rest tossed. There goes $45. For what it is worth, we thought we'd share our experience with others so they are aware of the type of black forest cake they sell. In all fairness, the staff is friendly, the place clean, and we haven't tried anything else.

This place is absolutely delicious and the gluten-free almond bars are one of the best things I’ve ever had. These are probably the freshest pastries that you’re going to get in town. If you’re thinking about going just go. Everyone is so friendly inside.

The coffee is outstanding—rich, smooth, and clearly made with care—and the bakery items are next-level fresh and delicious. Every pastry tastes homemade, like someone’s grandmother is in the back baking with love (which feels very on-brand for Mama G’s!). The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and perfect whether you’re meeting friends, grabbing a quick coffee, or sitting down to relax for a bit. What really sets Mama G’s apart, though, is the service. The staff is genuinely friendly, remembers customers, and clearly takes pride in what they do. This is the kind of place that keeps you coming back—not just for the coffee and baked goods, but for how it makes you feel. If you’re in Sarasota and haven’t been to Mama G’s yet, you’re missing out. Highly recommend! ☕️🥐💛

Came here for coffee and pastries with my husband and it was absolutely amazing! The owners were extremely friendly and the atmosphere was really relaxing. Would definitely recommend!
