The Café Carnegie
4400 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA
Crema's Take
“Tucked inside Carnegie Museum, this café punches well above typical museum cafeteria standards with a genuinely diverse menu and coffees that reviewers rave about—it's a legitimate destination, not an afterthought. The split personality works beautifully: grab a quick espresso and pastry at the café bar, or settle into the lovely dining area for something more substantial like their inventive pasta and crepe dishes. Fair warning though: portions on the fancier plates can be surprisingly modest for the price, so manage expectations on the full meal front.”

I never have high hopes for museum cafes, but this completely surprised me! Menu was diverse, coffees were delicious, service was great. Would absolutely go back next time I'm at the museum!
Service at this Cafe was great, and the coffee was great as well. The food however wasn't quite worth the price for the portion size or the flavors. The paninis greens were a little too grilled for mine and my partners taste, and the deviled eggs had salmon on them that wasn't quite giving the freshness it needed to. Coffee was fantastic though, and had a cute little design in it. Would def come back for the coffee.
I have tried this cafe twice now. I ordered the special braised pork belly and was shocked with how little food I received for about $25. I was really excited too when I heard the visiting chef was serving pork belly (one of my favorites). I then tried the cafe again a month later and ordered a duck dish. I was kindof shocked by the presentation of the dish (the duck was shredded) and I still was not full when I left. I would maybe stick to pastries and tea here instead of sitting down to eat lunch. Everything tasted fine but the presentation and quantity was not worth the price.
Amazing service by Megan! We chose seating outside which is very nice and not noisy at all. They have unique dishes, we enjoyed the vegetarian agnolotti pasta, chicken crepes and a very filling chocolate mousse.
Stopped in the Cafe at Carnegie after my museum visit. They have a Cafe bar for quick bites and coffee, along with other beverages. They also have a lovely dining area. The menu has a variety of choices. I opted for a turkey club and it was delicious. My hubby had a falafel. Both had generous portions. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Check for hours of operation as hours vary.
