Smokey Row Coffee
155 W Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA
Crema's Take
“Tucked into an unexpected spot within a gas station, Smokey Row surprises with a genuinely cozy atmosphere that invites you to linger over a cup or settle in for a meal—the breakfast sandwiches and warming soups earn particular praise despite flying under the radar. While their specialty and traditional coffee drinks are solid, it's the full food program (including ice cream) and the welcoming vibe that transforms this into a genuine community gathering spot rather than just a quick caffeine stop.”

This is the second time I’ve gone here and been told I can’t get what I want and have to drive to the location on university who then makes my order for me because they aren’t lazy. I was told this location was “out of chocolate ice cream” because I wanted a shake but she hesitated and giggled when she told me so I know she was lying. I know I showed up a little prior to an hour till close but you are acting like I’m asking you to do an impossible task…it’s a shake. I would love to see what these people do when they are adults if they can’t even make a simple shake. I’m really tired of this location although it is convenient for me so that is why I kept trying. But when you do order from here they will always hand out that machine and say “it’s gonna ask you a question.” You can’t even do your job, but you want a tip.
Honestly dont think of Smokey Row for their breakfast sandwiches but try them. They're really good. I mainly stop for a flavor coffee when the need strikes but this time I was short of breakfast. Not disappointed.
Delicious, affordable coffee in a cozy atmosphere! Excellent food options and ice cream too!
Three of us ladies visited early afternoon 2/13/25 for nice warm soup on a very cold and windy day. This was all of our first time at a Smokey Row. We all had the Cheeseburger Chowder, which was excellent!! Our waitress, Eliza, was very cheerful and efficient. We will definitely return!!
Love the atmosphere here, despite being connected to a gas station. Drinks aren’t anything to write home about, but they make a delicious (seemingly healthy) breakfast sandwich. I tend to plop down near the fire at 6am and enjoy a latte with a good book, or while meeting friends. Edit: I might take back that comment about atmosphere. The staff are flirting and one of the girls is literally wailing with laughter. It’s too early for this… I want to rip my ears off and dunk them in the house blend coffee.
