Bettina's Bakery
295 Elliot St, Newton, MA
Crema's Take
“Tucked into Newton's neighborhood fabric, Bettina's Bakery is a beloved morning destination where everything arrives fresh from their own kitchen—their flaky biscuits and blueberry scones are the stuff of repeat visits, and the breakfast sandwiches (think cubano, sausage egg and cheese) punch well above typical cafe fare. The warmth here comes from both the genuinely friendly owner and the genuine care in each pastry and sandwich, making it equally perfect for grabbing something delicious on your way out or lingering over coffee with a friend. While the coffee itself plays a supporting role, it's the homemade baking and thoughtful execution that keeps locals coming back whenever they're craving something real.”

What a great neighborhood cafe! I love seeing small local businesses thrive. Their baking items - scones, muffins - are delicious. In fact, I bought a blueberry muffin today for the first time and it is one of the best I've had. Just the fact that it's full of blueberries moves it to the top for me. The cafe itself is adorable and cozy and offers you an old-school way of sitting at a cafe - by reading a book. There are a couple of book shelves, so pick one and read away :) The only suggestion I would give is to create some more seating. For example, those beautiful window seats? Since you already have pillows on them, why not put small coffee tables in front? Something that would allow someone to put down their mug or a plate? I think would also make it even cozier. Just a suggestion :)
So charming! Wonderful staff and great sandwich choices! From scratch....the cubano was incredible and the egg sausage on a beautiful flaky biscuit was scrumptious.
Had the brioche egg and cheese and the biscuit egg and cheese. Finished with the blueberry muffin - this is the best I've had. I really enjoyed the cheese on the sandwich. Good place for a quick bite.
Very cute neighborhood breakfast spot! The pastries were delicious! We got the blueberry scone and sausage egg and cheese on a biscuit. We got coffee too — nothing special, but I appreciate that it’s made with an espresso machine. Overall, it’s more of a family friendly vibe but would definitely recommend!
We love this hidden gem! My husband and I come here whenever we’re in the area in the morning. The breakfast sandwiches are so good and fresh and the portion sizes are large. The owner is always so friendly and makes great recommendations. Highly recommend checking this place out!!
