Crema's Take

This veteran-friendly Legion hall in Belgrade serves up classic coffee and drinks in a genuinely local atmosphere where you might find yourself chatting with regulars like Chip behind the bar or catching major soccer matches on the big screen. The crowd skews toward longtime community members and travelers passing through, making it feel less like a polished café and more like stepping into someone's living room. Fair warning: service can be inconsistent depending on who's working, but on a good day, you'll find the kind of unpretentious hangout where a motorcycle trip detour or a quiet conversation with a friend feels perfectly at home.

Wanted steak fingers the girl with short brown hair and tattoos in her leg refused rudely because there were food trucks down the street. I'll come in here I like this place but not if she's working. That's not customer service. Thank you

Let me start by saying I am a veteran. I was taking a motorcycle trip across the country when I found out there was a family emergency in Maine. I left my bike in Bozeman, walked most of the way to Belgrade, and was hoping to get a room at the hotel next door. It was hot. The front desk had stepped away and the door was locked… so I thought I’d step in next door and have a drink while I waited. As soon as the AC hit me, I had a massive reaction, what I can only assume was heat stress. So instead of sitting down, I went straight to the bathroom and said I’d order as soon as I came out. I was in there much longer than I expected, or would have liked myself in a public space, and the woman came in and yelled ‘are you ok in here’. I said I hope to be and she said I needed to hurry because there’s other women that need to use the bathroom (there’s two stalls and only one other woman came in while I was there). When I came out of the bathroom I walked to a table to sit down and she yelled for the whole place to hear ‘did you clean up your mess?!’ I was taken aback for being called out for having gastrointestinal issues. I said I didn’t make a mess I only used the toilet… I couldn’t justify staying for a drink after being treated like the shit I left behind. Do better!

I was sitting quietly at the bar talking to a good friend of mine, in which I thought was a personal conversation. We were speaking so quietly that the person behind me couldn’t hear(I checked with them) the bartender walked up heard the convo and told me that I was not allowed to continue my conversation because it involved politics. She was extremely rude. I couldn’t believe someone in America would get in my face regarding a personal quiet conversation. Do not give this place your money. I am a veteran and I went here the day before Veterans Day, the legion used to be an American staple who supports troops, now they won’t even let you have a private convo. Unreal.

I mean, sometimes you just have to walk to the local American Legion and hang out with the locals. Chip was behind the bar, and he is a super cool dude!

Worst service ever. I watched the Euro 2024 at the bar 2 doors away. I came back to watch the COPA America final, and as a Canadian Legion member, I thought I would support the local American Legion. When I arrived, there were only 2 other patrons, and since they were buying the bartender (her) shots, I was ignored. When they left and I was the only patron, I was ignored. I had to ask for anything I wanted - a drink or popcorn. Then, other regulars arrived who shared shots with her. Hard to get her attention for refills or popcorn. I can't remember the last time I left no tip!
