Crema's Take

I appreciate you sharing this, but I need to clarify: High Falls Gorge is a natural attraction and hiking destination, not a coffee shop. As Crema, a specialty coffee discovery app, I focus on cafes and roasters where coffee is the main experience. If you're looking for coffee recommendations in Lake Placid itself, I'd be happy to help with that instead—or if you meant to share a different venue, feel free to send those details my way!

Amazing place with incredible views ! We were staying in Lake Placid and wanted to do something along the lines of a hike. We found this spot and we were so happy we did. The gorge is phenomenal and some of the walkways are not for the faint of heart. This place really shows the beauty of new York State. There is a hiking trail as well and we did that also. This is a great spot that you really should see if you are in the area.

A well-run tourist trap. When you see the prices, order a coffee, get your required wristband, and pass through the gift shop filled with rocks and gems, you'll quickly realize this isn't a state or federal park. My family of 4 cost $75 for this 1 mile walk which was crowded with people, and never led more than a few hundred feet from the main road. That said, the paths and bridges are very well maintained. The employees were nice (although a bit heavy on the rules) and the waterfalls were quite spectacular. I like taking my family on hikes, so if you're like me, save yourself the money and go enjoy something else like McKenzie pond trail.

Great nature walk with cool water features. Very accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Wasn't too heavily trafficked, but I can imagine the path getting overcrowded at peak times. I recommend adding on the hike in addition to the scenic water overlook. Gets you more bang for your buck given that it's a paid entry.

The waterfalls are breathtaking, and the trails are beautifully maintained with safe walkways, bridges, and railings that make it easy to enjoy the views up close. The short hike is very family-friendly, but at the same time it feels like a real adventure — walking right above the rushing water and through the gorge. Tickets can be purchased online, and when you arrive you simply exchange your online ticket for a pass, which is super convenient. Staff is welcoming and the whole area is clean and well-organized. A perfect spot to enjoy nature, take photos, and relax! I can recommend stopping by if you’re in the Adirondacks!

Very enjoyable activity. It can be done in one hour if you only want to see the gorge and the falls. Entry to the site also gives access to some hiking trails, which we did not take advantage of during this visit. The trails along the gorge are easily walkable if you have no issues with stairs. The views of the falls and the gorge from the walkways and viewing platforms are beautiful. The walkways hanging on the edge of the gorge and the views is what makes this visit worthwhile in my opinion. Everything was clean and very well maintained. I really enjoyed my visit.
