Mama Bread
1600 Woodland St, Nashville, TN
Crema's Take
“Mama Bread is a neighborhood gem that takes its bread seriously—their sourdough and croissants are legitimately excellent and sell out fast, which tells you everything you need to know. The vibe is intimate and welcoming, whether you're camping out with your laptop (they offer 90 minutes of complimentary wifi) or grabbing a quick pastry before work, and the staff moves with genuine warmth even when the morning line gets long. Just know that while the food is delicious, it skews pricier, so this is more of a "slow sit with purpose" spot than a budget grab-and-go.”

Great place to grab a coffee. You can easily work from here with their complimentary 90 minute wifi. I would avoid their food, while very tasty it is a bit on the pricier side. The $19 charcuterie was definitely not worth it for 2 cheeses, 4 slices of small salami, and bologna. Still delicious but something to consider.
Mama Bread is a fantastic local morning coffee shop. Opens 8:00am line can get long but moves fast with hard working friendly staff. croissants, and sourdough bread are word class. They highlight the fresh, high-quality ingredients, ..can sit inside or outside on patio… check out the mini organic produce & fine gourmet food products. Got to love this place.
Mama Bread may be the best new bakery and coffee shop in town! I went on a Wednesday morning around 10:30 and they were already halfway sold out of all of their bread and good pastries - I was shocked, as they have signs that state that bread doesn’t come out until 10! I got a Morning Bun that tasted of brown sugar and orange zest. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect combination of fluffy and flakey. I also tried a salted caramel iced latte that was divine. I loved that they also had an area with some fresh produce and other food items for sale. The seating area was super cute, and would be perfect for those who want to do a little work at a nearby coffee shop! I also adored the blue exterior of the building, as it is a stunning color!
Heard whispers about this spot poolside at Soho House yesterday, and naturally had to check it out. Very glad I did. The vibe is chef’s kiss — tucked into a cute neighborhood, with a little market inside stocked with some fresh produce, meats, cookbooks, even candy (all perfectly aesthetic packaging, of course). It feels like someone curated it straight out of a design mood board. Since they just opened yesterday, they are limit in things to one pastry per person (probably smart, because otherwise I’d have walked out with a mountain of croissants). We grabbed the ham & cheese croissant and the morning bun. The croissant? Imagine a buttery, crispy grilled ham & cheese sandwich had a love child with a perfectly laminated croissant. Absolute perfection. The morning bun? Divine—layers of caramelized sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest that basically made me want to lick my fingers in public. We didn’t try the bread loaves (travel problems), but overheard the fresh batch hits the shelves at 10am—worth timing your visit if you’re local. Family-friendly, staff were genuinely friendly, and while there was a line, it moved quickly. Espresso was surprisingly great too (not what I came for, but happy bonus). And the space is full of thoughtful little touches—yes, even down to the custom hand soap. All in all, it feels like Nashville just got itself a new carb temple. Highly recommend.
When I found out a bakery was moving in to this building I was SO EXCITED and it is better than I could have hoped! The bread here is probably the best bread I've ever had! Every pastry I've tried has been SO delicious, I can't wait to try them all (like tomorrow??) The owners Jenn and Evan are so sweet and genuine and it shows that they truly care about improving the neighborhood. This is a place for locals to gather and grab a fresh sourdough loaf or other great items from their market area and fresh produce fridge and see a friendly face every time! The cafe and outdoor seating area is beautiful and spacious, perfect to meet a friend or read a book while you drink some Heart espresso (one of my faves) and have a flaky warm pastry. Nashville has needed more bakeries for years and this is a perfect addition to east Nashville! Long Live Mama Bread!
