Crema's Take

Mixtape Bushwick is an espresso-focused spot where the magic happens when the passionate owner is behind the counter—regulars rave about the quality of the coffee and the genuine care that radiates through the whole team. It's the kind of place where people come back year after year for a killer shot of espresso paired with solid breakfast sandwiches and pastries, though consistency can depend on who's making your drink that day.

I used to love this place and its still usually great if the owner/manager is there but lately I go and the rest if the staff isn't as great at making drinks, like the last one I had the milk was burnt and I had a really strange interaction where the staff thought I didn't understand what I was ordering and tried to explain it to me totally unprompted. Anyway, I'll probably just skip this spot unless I see the manager working.

Bagel had a hair in it and they forgot the cream cheese. We went back and asked them to put cream cheese on it. They offered to remake the bagel which is nice but then they gave us rotten avocado on the new one. They were probably just waiting to get rid of that black avocado. Kind of disappointing, we go here frequently and it’s usually great.

Best coffee, best owner, best baristas, best prices, best storefront stickers. The coffee is fantastic but I would go there even if it sucked because the owner and every single person who works there are so lovely.

I usually enjoy supporting local coffee shops, but unfortunately, my experience here was disappointing. The barista was noticeably rude and dismissive from the moment I approached the counter. I understand busy days can be stressful, but basic courtesy shouldn’t be too much to ask. A simple greeting or even a neutral tone would’ve gone a long way. Hopefully, management can address this and work on improving customer service, it really affects the whole atmosphere of the place.

It’s years later and I’m back living next to my favorite coffee spot with the best coffee and my absolute favorite breakfast sandwich. If you are wanting a nice shot of espresso - ask what’s in the hopper and make it to stay.
