Tartine Manufactory

Crema's Take
“Tartine Manufactory is a San Francisco institution where the legendary sourdough and buttery croissants are matched only by the genuinely warm, knowledgeable staff who make you feel like a regular from your first visit. The spacious, light-filled location is perfect for lingering over coffee and pastries or settling in for a leisurely brunch with friends and family, with food that's consistently fresh and thoughtfully prepared rather than just riding on reputation. This is the kind of place where the line moves quickly because everything—from the mocha to the mushroom soup—justifies the wait.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars Tartine Bakery absolutely lives up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff was patient, knowledgeable about the menu, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable — even during a busy brunch rush. The standout dish was the soft-cooked scrambled eggs with caviar. Perfectly silky, rich, and buttery, the eggs were cooked to that ideal custardy consistency. The caviar added a beautiful pop of briny flavor that elevated the dish into something truly special. Simple ingredients, executed flawlessly. Of course, the pastries and bread are phenomenal as always, but the combination of exceptional food and thoughtful service is what really made this visit memorable. An easy 5 stars — can’t wait to come back. 🌟
The sourdough bread at Tartine is the best in the city. Manufactory is their best spot for brunch (other locations are smaller, more cramped and the Sunset one imo as good quality). Their tartines and sandwiches are pricey but delicious. The tuna, hummus, avocado sandwich is one of the favorites (can easily be shared). The salmon tartine is also solid, especially with a side of avocado. The banana cream pie is also a must! For dinner, their meatballs and the Margherita pizza are great, easy options.
We went to this popular place for brunch. The line was long but it did move quickly. There was ample space indoors to sit. The service was quick. We ordered chocolate croissant, mushroom soup, crispy potato, smoked salmon in toast, quiche of the day with a latte. The dishes were hit or a miss. The croissant was not the best. I have had better. I found it hard to bite in. The mushroom soup was on the sour side. Not to my liking. Loved the quiche, the salmon on toast was yum and so were the potatoes. It's a good experience and I might wait a while before I decide to go back. Bought back a loaf of buttermilk bread and it was yum!
We love Tartine Manufactory! The food is fresh and delicious and the ambiance is lovely. We lived in SF for 5 years and came here all the time for pastries, so we had to come back on our most recent visit. All of their pastries are delicious. I particularly love their almond croissant the best. And their country bread -- yum!! The breakfast sandwich is incredible - the eggs are light and fluffy and it has a tasty sauce. My husband loved his omelette too. The ambiance is great, especially on a sunny day! We love checking out the newsstand and Heath ceramics store next door too!
Stopped by Tartine Manufactory and tried the broccoli soup, salmon sandwich, mocha, and chocolate croissant — everything was great. The broccoli soup was comforting and flavorful without being too heavy. The salmon sandwich was fresh, well-balanced, and filling with high-quality ingredients. The mocha was rich and not overly sweet, and the chocolate croissant was perfectly flaky with a generous, gooey chocolate center — easily one of the highlights. The atmosphere is open, modern, and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed brunch or coffee break. Quality ingredients, consistent flavors, and a great vibe. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in SF.
