Crema's Take
“Malou Coffee is a vibrant Santa Monica neighborhood gem that's equally beloved for its carefully crafted espresso drinks and creative matcha creations, earning genuine loyalty from regulars who keep coming back. The laid-back vibe—complete with a cool interior and outdoor seating in the back—makes it the kind of spot where you'll want to linger, and their signature drinks like the matcha maple cream top with cinnamon cold foam show real care in execution. Fair warning: it's genuinely popular, so arriving off-peak is smart, but the quality and thoughtful atmosphere make it worth the wait.”

Best neighborhood coffee shop. I've been coming here for a while and have always loved the coffee + matcha. Today, my husband and I were in line and a few customers got upset with the barista and started yelling at him and the entire staff. The owner graciously handled the situation and did not raise his voice at the customers, even though they were at fault. He also covered the coffee of everyone in line although he did not have to. It made me love this spot even more - thank you to the whole team for everything that you do!
Cool, fun spot! Two of us ordered: iced americano $4.85 iced matcha latte $7.95 ($1 upcharge for oatmilk) Parked in the back. Cool space with outdoor seating.
So happy I discovered this spot! Originally intended to go to LaLaLand’s Brentwood location but walked a little further down and stumbled upon this. Unique selection of both matcha and espresso drinks with the classics as well. I got the seasonal matcha with a cream top which was delicious and well crafted. The matcha and other ingredients are high quality tasting. The shop itself is small but has a clean and modern aesthetic, with ample seating outdoors. I especially loved the collection of customer dog polaroids sitting on the counter :) Can’t wait to come back and try the date latte ✨✨✨
I have been trying to check this place out for months. But every time I drive by the line is down the block. So I came later in the day, and while it’s still pretty busy, it wasn’t so crazy. Got the breakfast brioche and an iced coffee. 10 outta 10! It’s a little expensive, but worth it. The sandwich looked so good, I ate half before I thought of taking a photo. Kitchen closes at 3pm, and sometimes earlier they said. So don’t go at 2:45 and expect food. Can’t wait to come back here with friends.
Very clean and pleasant coffee shop. I got a matcha maple cream top, and it was very good. The cinnamon on the top of the cold foam had a sweet touch to it, which was very nice. But I definitely have to go back to try the strawberry matcha.
