Crema's Take

The Chocolate Cow is a tiny alleyway gem in downtown Sonoma that punches way above its weight, packing an impressive array of house-made chocolates, creative ice cream flavors, and specialty coffee drinks into a charming, character-filled space. While service can be inconsistent, the standout experiences come from staff like Max who treat you like an old friend, and the sensory experience alone—from the intoxicating smell of fresh chocolate to treasures like chocolate-dipped orange peels and crème brûlée truffles—makes it worth the hunt. It's the kind of place where you pop in for coffee and leave with handcrafted treats and the warm feeling of having discovered something truly local and special.

Stopped here to purchase some fudge for my grandmother. The gentleman working was incredibly rude. He acted as if it was the biggest inconvenience of his life to get two pieces of fudge out of the case for me. I would not return here.

Perfect stop for sweet treats! Chocolate dipped orange peels & crème brûlée truffles were amazing!

Despite not being a large store, it has more than you can imagine! Our host, Max, was extremely friendly and attentive. Rum and Spumoni ice cream, caramel frappe, key lime and orange chocolates, was our order and everything was delicious! The prices are quite in line with the portions and quality. By the way, be sure to try the Affogato... Delirious combination of your favorite ice cream with a shot of espresso... I highly recommend it!

Lovely small chocolatier in downtown hidden in an alleyway with absolute character. The chocolates are fabulous but the hospitality of the staff was at the next level. Great place to grab coffee or hot chocolate while strolling through Sonoma.

Amazing homemade chocolates and ice cream. Even if you aren't hungry it's worth just going inside for the smells alone. Also as odd as it sounds one of the only places we could find Sonoma kids T-shirts.
