The Mill Coffee
330 S 21st St, Lincoln, NE
Crema's Take
“This bustling Telegraph Avenue spot excels as a dual-purpose destination where serious espresso and pour-over craftsmanship coexist with a full bar, making it equally suited for morning study sessions or evening cocktails. The spacious layout manages to feel energetic without being overwhelming, with consistently excellent execution on both coffee and mixed drinks, plus a thoughtful selection of loose-leaf teas and beans to take home. It's the kind of place regulars return to for years, whether they're chasing the perfect iced Americano, settling in with a laptop for hours, or grabbing a quick drink between exploring Lincoln.”

A large coffee shop with drinks I’ve found well made. They also have a full bar. The locale tends to be bustling but not still easily able to hear conversations and not disturbingly loud for studying. A variety of people frequent it and despite it being popular there usually are seats available for individuals or small groups. There make some cafe items and coffee shop type eateries though availability seems to vary.
The Mill has been my go to coffee shop for a couple years now. I always get the same drink: Medium iced Americano, just black(no sweetner, no cream) This week I visited again and ordered my same drink. As soon as the barista handed it to me I could see that the espresso shot was weak and it wasn’t going to taste as strong as it normally does. Sure enough it tasted like brown water with a little flavor of coffee. I went back to ask them to remake it and explained that it tasted watery which the barista responded to with “well americanos are made with water” I tried to explain that the espresso tasted weak and if she could remake it. She did. It tasted slightly stronger but not much. Sadly this is enough to loose my business. If I tell a barista that my Americano tastes weak or watery and she doesn’t immediately understand that something it wrong with the grind, the tamp, or even espresso machine that doesn’t make me want to play Russian roulette every-time I visit with my money and time. Sincerely, a former Barista.
very laid back atmosphere, easy to bring your laptop and work there, or just for a date or a quick drink. prices are fair and they have an interesting selection of loose teas and coffee beans to buy
My family and I stopped in after visiting the Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, we opted for a cool treat at The Mill. My Dad and friend each got iced beverages while I enjoyed a cold tequila cocktail crafted onsite. The setting is quite large yet cozy; I definitely can see spending long periods of time in the cafe working, reading, and/or just relaxing. This location is very good!
Best place to study! Come in here all the time to get work done/ type up essay papers. Cheap and cheesy food, pair it with their coffee and it’s amazing. Definitely recommend to come in for a bite or coffee, or just to check out the aesthetic!
