Crema's Take

This beloved Nicholasville gem has earned its stellar reputation as a thoughtful espresso and pour-over destination that takes coffee seriously—think well-executed shots and standout single-origins like their Tanzanian peaberry—while maintaining an genuinely cozy, book-filled atmosphere that draws regulars back for years. It's the kind of place where pastries are thoughtfully paired with your drink, laptop work feels welcomed, and the community vibe builds quickly, making it ideal for quiet mornings if you want to settle in alone or mid-morning for catching up with friends. Whether you're a home-espresso enthusiast or just looking for a warm spot to lose yourself in a book, Drinklings feels less like a transaction and more like a favorite corner of your own living room.

I recently relocated to the Wilmore area and have been on the hunt for a solid coffee spot. As someone who’s pretty particular about coffee quality (I have a home espresso setup and am picky about where I buy beans), I’m thrilled to have discovered Drinklings. The drinks they make in-house are consistently excellent and well-crafted. You can tell the baristas know what they’re doing. I decided to take a chance on a bag of their Colombian beans to try at home, and I was pleasantly surprised by both the roast and overall quality. It’s not always easy to find beans that perform well for espresso, but these delivered. Beyond the coffee itself, the atmosphere and service really stand out. The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the facility is clean and well-maintained. It’s become my go-to spot when I need to knock out some work or take a call outside the house - the environment is perfect for productivity. If you’re in the area and looking for quality coffee, whether to drink there or brew at home, I highly recommend giving Drinklings a try. It’s exactly the kind of neighborhood coffee shop I was hoping to find.

Drinkling’s Coffeehouse is, without any exaggeration, one of my favorite places of all time. I’ve spent countless hours here over the last 5 years. Many books poured over, many pastoral meetings, many tender moments shared with loved ones here. Drinkling’s is set apart from the rest because everyone from the newest barista, to the owners themselves, strive to serve this community and everyone who walks in through their doors with hospitality and excellency. It feels familiar and WARM to walk inside. Part of that is because Drinkling’s is literally in an old house but it’s mainly because of the staff and memories made here. Drinkling’s also sources and roasts their own coffee beans! If you’re a purist who enjoys a good drip, untouched by anything else, this is your place. From dark and rich to roasts that are bright and acidic, you can’t go wrong here. They also sell their empty coffee bags from those they source from. I’ve got one hanging in my office and it’s so cool. If you enjoy something sweet or creative, you’re also in luck! Drinkling’s doesn’t cut corners with their syrups, they make their own from scratch! Some of my favorites have been their Lumberjack (maple-bourbon), Bananas Foster, or the Viking. They’re constantly cooking up something new so make sure to try the barista special of the week! I love the atmosphere they’ve curated, it’s very Oxford driven (as in the Oxford inklings). There is also a fair amount of humor and lightheartedness around here (that might be an understatement). I could go on and on, but I think I’m going to just post this and go there myself. See you there!

I have been to Drinklings numerous times and it has such a cute atmosphere! It’s a great place to grab a cup of coffee with a friend or two. You can never go wrong with what you get to drink there! I got a strawberry matcha latte with almond milk and some coffee beans. Took it to go, and made an espresso at home! I do recommend their cold brew or coffee over other drinks, they are superior.

I’ve never met a coffee shop I more enjoyed. Drinklings has a fantastic Tanzanian peaberry roast in their drip brew coffee, well-executed espresso beverages, delicious baked goods … and SO many Tolkien/Lewis decorations and pieces of artwork. It’s the most satisfyingly and tastefully bookish coffee shop you’ll ever visit.

This is the sweetest little spot, especially if you’re a book nerd! It’s so cozy and sweet. It gets filled with community members very quickly, so if you’re looking for quiet, go in the early morning. The customer service was so good and kind. The chai and croissant was okay.
