Crema's Take

The Branding Iron trades on its Western character—taxidermy, saddles, and ranch hotel charm—which draws families and travelers passing through Kerrville, though the food itself lands somewhere between solid and uneven. Recent reviews suggest inconsistent temperatures and flavor, and the lunch buffet has been discontinued in favor of pricier à la carte options ($14+), so manage your expectations if you're coming for a casual, affordable meal. It's a decent stop for breakfast or steaks if you're in the area and value the atmosphere, but don't expect restaurant-quality execution across the board.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast and pastries on the menu. Family friendly. Parking available.

Well we were excited to come here based off the reviews that we read. Most of the food was just kind of Luke warm not necessarily wot or cold. Flavor was okay but I definitely won’t be coming back. Also Drinks were flat and didn’t find that out till after we ordered.

This place is always great. Whether you go for the menu or buffet, it always has something good. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. I stop here often on my travels across Texas.

If you’re in the Kerrville area, then you have to eat at the Branding Iron restaurant inside the Y O Ranch Hotel. Friend of mine asked me if I’ve eaten there. We haven’t, so we drove there from Comfort. Walked in and felt like we were in a Colorado resort. The atmosphere was so…

Nice place to get dinner. They had a prime rib buffet that looked good; we opted for top sirloin steaks and they were very good. Be sure to check out the amazing taxidermy mounts, saddles and other curios in the hotel lobby!
