Famous matcha shop at Harvard sq. I tried an iced strawberry shortcake matcha. It’s sweet and good as a refreshing dessert.

Blank Street’s matcha is as excellent as advertised, especially their Daydream! Their seasonal flavors (carrot cake) was not as good as their staple classics so be weary. The lines can get long so expect to wait, but it’s worth it!

Okay. Let me get this straight. I have been coming to this establishment for over four months. It has been a great experience every single time, except for Saturday, November 15th, 2025… As I was waiting in line, discussing my love for this cafe, out of the corner of my eye— I saw movement. At a closer look at the display case, I saw— not one— not two— but THREE flies hovering over my favorite item on the menu. The chocolate chip cookie. I experienced profound disgust at this revelation, and It has changed my opinion of Blank Street forever. Where is your dignity? No fly swatters? No close eye on the pastries? You guys need to hire a professional fly swatter— or do it yourself. I do not tolerate a FLY COOKIE. It is VERY beneath me. Insulting, if you will. I immediately typed up this review to save others from enduring this horrid scene. Please do not get the pastries… unless you delight in a side of flies. Do better, Blank street.

This is a super popular cafe, in a very famous spot, hence there is almost always a queue to get in the cafe. Best suited for take away orders. This place is popular for its Matcha and that’s by far the best in the area. They have added a good variety of flavors, and at times they do run out of the popular ones like Pistachio. The staff are really nice, they are so busy yet they take and deliver the orders with smile, are very patient with customer queries, and make sure that they inform customers about the ingredients and check for any allergy to those ingredients. They do have a very small seating area, however given the small size of the shop it’s rather inconvenient to sit there, as it’s very loud and hard to hold a conversation or work on your device. Highly Recommended!!

TLDR: Visiting from LA. Pistachio Matcha and Rocky Road lattes are must-tries. Grab-and-go spot with fast, friendly service; mornings get packed with students. I’m not a big coffee drinker, and both hit the mark. This location is mainly grab-and-go. There is limited seating, and during the semester mornings get crowded with Harvard students and foot traffic. That matched my experience. The line moved quickly and the staff was welcoming with good suggestions. Popular for a reason. Creative drinks, consistent execution, and efficient service. Pro tips • Start with the pistachio matcha. • Expect morning crowds, but the line moves fast. • Plan to grab and go, not linger.
