Durango Bagel

Crema's Take
“Durango Bagel is a beloved breakfast spot steps from the Durango & Silverton train station, making it the ideal quick stop before an adventure—locals rave about the fresh, warm bagels and customizable sandwiches, especially when topped with their signature "smears" like garlic and herb cream cheese. While the shop has earned a loyal following for its convenient location and satisfying bagel selections, some recent reviews raise concerns about quality control that might be worth checking out in person.”

Ordered a salt bagel, the first bagel had 3 grains of salt, went to the server and asked for a bagel with salt on it. She gave me serious sass, said “that’s how our salt bagels come” I said no it’s not… I frequent this place and in the past there has been plenty of salt. She begrudgingly said she could make me another. When it was ready, she basically threw the bagel at me without saying a word. The 2nd bagel also had next to zero grains of salt. This place has gone way downhill. Not coming back after many years of loyalty.
This is my first time in Durango and I’ve been here for a few days and so far I love everything about it. This town is amazing. The food is amazing but then I wanted a bagel. I came to Durango bagel with my friend and she told me that it’s not the best but that it’s OK. I don’t think I have been ever Catfished by a bagel place but today was the day. Not only was the server so sassy and mean the bagel was stale and cold and not toasted. My sweet friend asked for a latte but the server said no because she had just cleaned it. The latte machine, even though they didn’t close in another two hours. I also asked if I could scoop the bagel. She looked me up and down and said we don’t do that. For those of you who don’t know scooping the bagel takes maybe 10 seconds of just pulling out the internal dough of the bagel but looking back on this there was no internal dough of the bagel because the bagel was stale and shriveled. I really had high hopes for this place because I love Durango and their food. I think they would really benefit from a revamp of this bagel place thank you for the time of reading this review and I feel that I had to do this. I don’t usually do but thanks. Ps the cream cheese was good!
Got two bagels, both had hair in them. Talked to the manager & she got us two new bagels. Which BOTH had hairs in it. Every time I come here I get a hair in my food. Most unhygienic place to eat in Durango by far.
Durango Bagel is the perfect place for breakfast before the train. Located just half a block from the train station you can grab your breakfast before you board. The bagels are fresh and delicious - and they make bagel breakfast sandwiches with lots of options. I'm not a coffee addict and I don't understand coffee culture - Durango Bagel sells coffee and the coffee lovers can slow down the line a bit with their overly complicated orders. But overall service is good and relatively quick. It is a smaller place with limit indoor seating but when you're in the San Juans, outdoors is the place to eat." Highly recommend.
Delicious bagel sandwiches. Gotta add on the "smear," which is like a cream cheese mixture - I got the garlic & herb. You can order from a selection of sandwiches or build your own bagel - I got egg, cheese, & Canadian bacon 😋 on an everything bagel. I will definitely be coming back to try their lunch sandwiches! New favorite sandwich place in Durango? We shall see!
