Crema's Take

Sir Walter Coffee in Raleigh is a rare spot that excels at both the coffee craft and the kitchen, with baristas like Megan who turn latte art into conversation starters and a food menu that surprises—think apple butter elevated grilled cheese and breakfast tacos that stick with you. The vibe shifts seamlessly between quick-grab energy and lingering afternoon slowness, whether you're catching a specialty drink like their toasted marshmallow cold foam pumpkin spice or settling in with a lox bagel and strong cold brew. It's the kind of place where regulars become repeat customers because the whole operation, from the espresso machine to the pastry case, feels genuinely cared for.

Great spot to grab my morning coffee during Hopscotch music festival - I got my first pumpkin spice of the year here! Highly recommend adding the toasted marshmallow cold foam. Drank these pumpkin spice puppies so fast I didn’t even have time to take a good pic. We also had a great made-in-house blueberry muffin and a breakfast sandwich. Before we left, we went back for an espresso and a cortado, both excellent as well. Friendly staff and great location!

I went to this location to grab a quick snack and honestly, I left pissed off. I ordered a yogurt parfait and a side of bacon. The bacon was fine, but the “yogurt” parfait? Absolutely disgusting. It wasn’t yogurt, it tasted like straight-up cream cheese, or worse, expired yogurt. It was thick, chunky, and nasty. Completely NASTY! I went back to the counter to ask if I was given the wrong item or made a mistake while ordering - the glass definitely said YOGURT! The young lady at the register insisted she’d get me another one. I explained that the texture was way off and showed her. She went to the back, came out, and told me it was “whipped yogurt.” Are you kidding me? I’ve had whipped yogurt before, and this wasn’t even close. It was straight garbage. And then to top it off, she didn’t offer a refund or even a different item, just looked at me and said, “Do you want it back?” If a customer is literally telling you the food is nasty, why would you not offer to make it right? I didn’t want to make a scene, so I just took the thing and threw it in the trash on my way out. That’s $7 straight down the drain. This isn’t even my first bad experience here. I tried to give this place another chance but last winter, I ordered an item through the online menu that was being advertised, only to find out it wasn’t available that day. No one told me, they just ignored the item. I had to ask, and only then was I told they didn’t have it. No heads-up, no apology, no refund. Honestly, the staff at this location clearly needs training in basic customer service and hospitality. If a customer tells you their order is wrong or inedible, fix it. Offer a refund or something else. Don’t just shrug it off. And let’s not ignore the prices. This place is charging $7 for a small, iced coffee you can finish in three sips, and that’s when they actually get your order right. If you like overpriced coffee and don’t care about customer service, maybe this is the spot for you. I won’t be coming back.
