Twisted Croissant & Patisserie
1625 SE Bybee Blvd, Portland, OR
Crema's Take
“This minimalist Portland gem has earned its stellar reputation not just for show-stopping pastries like their legendary cherry and chocolate croissant, but for a thoughtful approach to both coffee and hospitality that keeps locals returning daily. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee before work or settling in for a slow afternoon, the baristas here genuinely engage with requests—they'll craft something unexpectedly creative if you let them, proving they care more about your perfect cup than the standard menu. The clean, uncluttered space becomes your backdrop for discovering why people drive an hour out of their way for what many describe as some of the best food and coffee they've encountered anywhere.”

Twisted has fabulous pastries, which is not a secret. However, today was the first time I came into the cafe and stayed for a coffee and a bite to eat, rather than just ordering goodies for takeout. The space is lovely and gets wonderful morning light even when its grey and rainy. The coffee was delicious, the staff are friendly, and the baked goods are dependably delicious.
I was really excited about their pastries, we drove almost 1hr to get there. The place is clean with a minimalist decor. Good variety of aesthetically pleasing pastries. However, I was disappointed by the flavor profile of the items we tried - the chocolate croissant was flaky and crispy but seemed to lack moisture and depth of flavor, and the rosemary ham and cheese croissant was only saved by the rosemary flavor itself. People say that you get what you paid for, now I am owed some money...
I can't speak highly enough about Twisted Croissant. I am visiting town and this is by far some of the best food I have encountered so far. Some of the seasonal items, especially the char sui croissant, were amazing. I also loved the lemon and poppyseed pull apart croissant. The prices might seem a little high but you're paying for exceptional quality. The staff who helped us was so patient and kind. Highly recommend if you're in the area to stop by.
If you want to taste the pinnacle of human culinary craftsmanship, make your way to Twisted Patisserie, just off Broadway near the Lloyd Center. Their cherry + chocolate croissant is, without exaggeration, the best croissant I’ve ever had. Fresh, local cherries are paired with rich, house-made chocolate ganache, then lovingly wrapped in flawlessly laminated viennoiserie dough. The result is a pastry that’s as transcendent as it is indulgent—a true sensory masterpiece. Bring someone you love to Twisted Patisserie and share in the magic. Trust me—they’ll love you even more for it.
I looooove this place. I get coffee before work every day, and it's my favorite part of my routine! It's the only shop that will truly meet my request for "make a drink that you think is too sweet and then make it sweeter." Every staff member nails it every time! The pastries are incredible as well, super soft and flaky. The blueberry lemon pull apart and the quiche are personal favorites of mine but you truly cannot go wrong. Super cozy and friendly, definitely get there before the delicious pastries sell out!!
