Ordering and check out process can be confusing, overwhelming and stressful at times..its not customer friendly and honestly doesn't look employe friendly either. My mother and I shared a basket to put our items in. We set our items on the counter in 2 sperate piles. The gal checking me out first asked if I needed anything else. I asked to get 1/2 pound of turkey and ham. Then I asked her if she could also get my mother the same as well, thinking in my head Im making this step easier for her so I thought..... then she would not have to get gloves on again for my mother who was checking out right behind me. The employe says under her breath, that's not how we do things. I said, excuse me I didn't hear you. She said it again... I kindly said we'll I thought I was making this easier for you to do this step once instead of twice.I sincerely apologized to her and she said nothing... Extremely rude in my opinion. I shouldn't of apologized for trying to make your job easier youngster! Hopefully you dont treat all your customers this way. I do love this place but its extreme chaos at the checkout counter always. This incident today topped it off. Can we just be a bit kind , especially to the customers who are trying to be kind to you. Instead I get a snotty remark back from your employee. Unacceptable in customer service!
Food and coffee are good, service is generally a little slow. They have a unique system where the employee who takes your order goes in the back and makes the entire order. Each employee doing all the jobs is slower than most places but they have never gotten my order wrong. I enjoy going when I am not in a rush.
Clean organized, Floyd the owner (Herman's Boy)stopped by my dad and I's table. He was really nice and gave us a history lesson on coffee and his biz how it's been around for 125 years. A definite memorable first time visit for me. The cinnamon roll was gooey and warm(perfect) pricing was right $1.75 a cinnamon roll. Loved that they served the roll on an actual plate. Thanks again
Great little establishment that has history behind it and the moment you walk inside you will know that this place is history everywhere you look. They have everything from dozens upon dozens of different coffees, to meats, to fresh-made fudge, and chocolate treats; to other kinds of desserts. There is a full menu where you can order a meal and sit down in one of many numerous little quaint hide-a-ways in the place that are cozy and quiet for a perfect one-on-one meal. The staff are beyond friendly, professional, super helpful, and will go out of their way to make your experience at Herman's Boy an enjoyable one. I for one have been there many times because of the treats and the service....plus the fudge (don't tell my wife 🤫).
This is a great place to stop for a coffee or their chocolate and the deli with bagel sandwiches. great inside seating areas too! Take a walk back in time and enjoy the smell of fresh brewed coffee and browse the meats and the treats! walk though all the amazing rooms full of all kinds of interesting things to enjoy. a rare one of a kind place that has the best sandwiches!
