Well Grounded Cafe

Crema's Take
“Well Grounded Cafe is a beloved Fort Wayne neighborhood spot where the staff genuinely knows regulars by name and creates the kind of cozy, welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back instead of heading to chains. Their hot chocolate is memorable enough to be a destination in itself, and their sandwiches and smoothies are solid enough to win over whole teams, but what really sets them apart is that real community feeling—the kind of place where you can settle in with a laptop or meet a friend and actually feel like you belong there.”

The staff were so sweet and they knew most of their customers by their names. The hot chocolate was so amazing, I went after I finished acting and it was a great place to just have a break. I highly recommend the hot chocolate with hazelnut. Plus the PB&js were great.
I wanted to start supporting more local business and cut back from Starbucks. Since, I tend to go there more often. I happened to realize there was this cute cafe. I ordered over the phone, was just a breakfast bagel. As, I arrived there I see my pickup order! my honest mistake was grabbing it and walking away. ( I'm use to ordering and paying online as well). Mind you that cafe is not that big, the lady yelled at me " You have to pay that". I turn around and I apologize, I tell her "I'm sorry I'm use to paying online". Her responds was "sure" then taps at the square Botton. I was surprised how rude she was. Then proceed to ask for gratuity...I was shocked since she yelled so loud to the point that serval people turned their heads around. I not trying cause any issues but there is a better way to go about this matter. I'm truly disappoint on how bad their customer service was, will not be going here again.
Cute little place but horrible customer service. I’ve been here twice and both times, the employees were not friendly at all and made me feel like an inconvenience. They did not smile or say thank you. The first time I came here, I ordered mostly pastries and coffee. The coffee tasted good but the pastries were very dry. The second time, I placed a large order because I wanted to support local and try lunch items there, and the cashier just stared at me like I was crazy for ordering several items (3 sandwiches, a salad, 3 quesadillas, 2 brownies). The staff were loudly saying things like “after ordering a certain amount of items you should be forced into gratuity” after I didn’t leave gratuity on my credit card and was going to go out to my car to search for cash to leave as a tip, as I saw a jar sitting right there and am often told that cash tips are better. The menu online is not updated and several items have jumped up to $2 each which adds up. I’m very disappointed by both trips. I really wanted to like this place that I haven’t heard anything about so I could enjoy it and tell others about it. I am not hard to please at all, but I tried twice and will not be back.
It’s super cozy, it’s a total community gem. The ladies were so sweet and nice, as was my first time into the restaurant. I loved the slaw as ‘garden mix’ it paired great with panini. If you you’re a non-corporate, chain cafe person; go here.
I called and ordered sandwiches and smoothies for the team. Picked them up and took them to work. Huge hit! Delicious and I love to support local businesses when possible. I also love their little artisan area up front where local people can sell their goods. They even had dog treats! 🐾
