Crema's Take

Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters is an espresso-focused roastery that shines with creative signature drinks like their beloved Cutie Pie latte, paired with quality pastries and avocado toast that keep locals coming back. The vibe is relaxed and social—perhaps a bit too leisurely if you're in a rush—with a welcoming atmosphere that rewards those who linger over their pour overs rather than dash out the door.

I had a great experience at Chocolate Fish Coffee. I ordered the Cutie Pie latte and avocado toast, and both were absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming, and I really enjoyed the inside atmosphere—clean, modern, and comfortable. It’s a great spot to relax, catch up with someone, or just enjoy a really good coffee. Highly recommend if you’re in downtown Sacramento ☕✨

This is not the place to grab a quick coffee. Service is consistently slow. It's not because they’re busy, it's because the baristas casually chat behind the counter while customers wait. I’ve watched drinks sit unstarted for minutes at a time while there are people lined up. I've been here a few times and it doesn't matter if there are two or twelve people in the shop, their pace is the same. When they finally get to making the drink, the process looks sloppy and disorganized. I had to remind them twice that I ordered oat milk and I can't have whole milk. For the prices they charge, the lack of urgency, professionalism, and attention to detail is pretty disappointing. If you value your time, go somewhere else. I do not recommend this place.

I came here because it was next to the hotel i was staying at. It looked good, however the barista had attitude & then gave me a drink that was underfilled. I noticed they treated the white customers after me a lot nicer. This place is too overpriced for no reason. The following day i went to the breakfast spot IN the hotel and it was way better service & drinks than here. Don’t waste your time with this place

Chocolate Fish has several locations around Sacramento, and I stopped by the one connected to the Hyatt. The coffee was good, and the pastries were solid too. Service was fine, nothing to complain about. The biggest downside is the outdoor seating it’s right next to the hotel’s dedicated smoking area as well as next to the garage and I guess where they keep the trash cans because it smelled like puke. Overall, a decent stop for coffee, but not my favorite of their locations.

Kinda expensive for baked goods ($3.18 per cookie), not very many plugs for coworking (I saw 2 along the desk wall but none accessible at the group tables), no glass or ice if you buy sparkling water for dine-in, and they could stand to wipe the tables more than 0 times in 4 hours. Like maybe after people leave and there are crumbs on the table, it should get wiped before the next people sit down. At least the staff are all smiley.
