Crema's Take

This intimate Capitol Hill spot celebrates Ethiopian coffee culture with ethically sourced beans and creative, flavor-forward drinks like their standout Moroccan latte that's converting casual coffee drinkers into enthusiasts. The cozy 15-seat space, warmed by genuine hospitality and a serene atmosphere, strikes the perfect balance between a quick grab-and-go destination and a slow-sit haven, complete with inventive pastries like their Cro'gel croissant-bagel hybrid. Whether you're working from the self-ordering kiosk or lingering on the couches with views of the Capitol, Warka feels less like a trendy coffee shop and more like a welcoming extension of family.

Warka will always be my favorite coffee shop! Gives such an authentic family feel and the coffee is ethically sourced. The coffee tastes incredible and they have so many unique flavors inspired by Ethiopia. I tried the avocado and the salmon toast and both were amazing. The environment is beautiful with lots of light. It’s perfect for catching up with a friend or working. I’m so thrilled that Warka opened and that we have such a high quality coffee shop in the area. The story of the Warka tree is a perfect representation of the experience there. Thank you for always welcoming me with open arms and for creating such a wonderful environment to enjoy coffee!

Warka is turning me into a coffee snob! I've never been much of a connoisseur, but drinking Warka's coffee regularly (it's in my work building) has made me appreciate what good coffee tastes like. The owners are really excited to share their extensive knowledge of the craft. I love the toasts and specialty lattes, which are not overpowered with sugar. The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is also a nice experience in this very cozy cafe. Check 'em out!

Cute shop with creative lattes. Moroccan latte was especially good. It’s a little cozy with about 15 spaces to sit between couches and counters. The self ordering kiosk makes things easier for takeout drinks when ordering to-go.

Warka Coffee is not in the "heart of Capitol Hill," but it does offer up close views of the U.S. Capitol. Opened in August 2025, I popped into Warka Coffee since I love a new coffee shop. Here's my experience. 1) Coffee: I ordered a large latte and it was good. It's darker than I usually enjoy, but it was still tasty. I'd order it again. 2) Food: They have breakfast and lunch items and a full glass box of pastries from Fresh Baguette. The pumpkin croissant was unique and good. 3) Service: The staff are kind and passionate about what they built. 4) Space: It's a cozy place with lots of seating. They keep it clean and organized. 5) Area: Since it's not in a highly residential neighborhood, most of the nearby street parking is paid.

What a beautiful shop with delicious coffee, a serene atmosphere and the best customer service with a smile. I ordered a Moroccan latte, croissant, banana bread and a Cro’gel - croissant bagel mix - this was the most flavorful little delight. The eats were good but you know what makes it even better - the impact the owners are making in Ethiopia - right where their coffee is sourced. This is a beautiful shop where you can stop in and grab your java, meet friends or sit back and get work done with high seating looking at the city go by or nestled in one of their comfy chairs. Go + Enjoy! I will definitely be back.
