The Daily Bagel

4770 Village Plaza Lp, Eugene, OR

Crema's Take

The Daily Bagel is Eugene's go-to spot for fresh bagels and simple comfort food, though it's worth noting that orders can be inconsistent during their notoriously slow morning rushes. The vibe is genuinely family-friendly and the staff clearly cares, but you'll want to double-check your order and arrive with patience if you're stopping by before work. If you can embrace the slower pace and don't mind occasionally creative (or errant) ingredient additions, there's real charm in supporting one of the town's few dedicated bagel spots.

You people can't read. I have NEVER ONCE GOTTEN A CORRECT ORDER from you. You ALWAYS either outright forget something or just ignore my requests. It's absurd. One of the only 3 bagel places in town and you can't get anything right. Does this look like chive cream cheese to you? And why are you incapable of putting vegetables AND cream cheese on a bagel? Is it that hard? Skip this inattentive garbage bagel spot and find a place where people pay attention to their customers.

The cashew chicken salad had about a tablespoon of chicken salad on it with completely mushy cashews. I asked what veggies were on the the sandwich and was told lettuce, tomatoes, and onion and it’s all mixed in with the chicken and can’t be removed. The salad also had red peppers which I can’t eat and obviously you could remove the lettuce and tomato. My daughter ordered her bagel with peanut butter, which was able to be resolved after some time.

Daily bagel is so yummy. The workers work so hard especially during the morning rush. It took over 45 minutes to receive my bagel this morning. If you have places to be, this is not the place to go. They might benefit from more staff.

We came in on the recommendation of a friend. We arrived several minutes before their posted closing time — the doors open, customers still eating at tables inside and on the patio. Our greeting upon entering was from the girl behind the counter who said, “we’re closed”. We politely asked if we could just grab one of their bagels to go (that would likely end in a discounted day-old pile in the morning), to which she let us know that they close at 1:00. When I informed her that was still 5 minutes away, she just shook her head and said no. A closing time shouldn’t be dependent on the employees mood or afternoon plans if a successful business is the goal. What an unnecessarily disappointing experience that will for sure prevent us from ever coming back.
