The Toasted Owl East Side
5200 E Cortland Blvd, Flagstaff, AZ
Crema's Take
“This whimsical East Side spot is an owl lover's dream, with charming décor throughout and a curated selection of owl merchandise that makes it feel like a gift shop and café rolled into one. The kitchen shines with standout breakfast offerings like their famously massive pancakes, thoughtful vegan options for dietary restrictions, and quality mimosas that keep regulars coming back on weekend mornings. While service can be inconsistent (some days are flawless, others hit rough patches), the warm atmosphere and genuine effort to accommodate different tastes make it worth a visit, especially if you're a fan of cozy, personality-filled coffee shops with real character.”

Full of owls and great food! The pancakes are massive and the mimosas are amazing!
Worst experience. Sat down to a dirty table, cold food, wait times longer than an hour and an half, and an irritable manager on duty. Ah don’t forget missing three plates (two of which for a pregnant woman and 2 year old child). I will gladly stick to the other flag location. When the manager with dark unbrushed hair and bug eyes was asked to comp more than 10% she snapped back asking if we’d ever been in a restaurant and to expect long wait times on a Sunday. Understandable. Cooks quit, it’s unfortunate. However being seated at a dirty table, missing three meals, and serving all of the plates cold is NOT apart of the restaurant experience sweetheart. Save your money for a real restaurant: Mike and Rhonda’s is great! Wait staff is great but management and owner is terrible. Don’t seat people as the manager when you know you’re understaffed. Feel terrible watching the servers run around as the manger sat at the front window looking at the snow.
Wonderful atmosphere and great breakfast. Love that they have a vegan menu, which helped my son find something safe for his dairy allergy. The service was very good and the food came out quickly. I do think the English muffin on the benedict should be toasted before it's assembled as it's rather stoggy and thick beneath the egg if not toasted. Flavors were very nice, however.
This place is too cute! Owl stuff everywhere, and most of it for sale. We were in town visiting and this was on my list of food places to try. We came in on a Friday morning around 9 am and didn't have to wait for a table at all. The service was very friendly and quick! I loved that the area we were in, the tables and chairs were all different, some metal, some cushy, all different prints. I loved that look, and we got very comfy chairs! I ordered a large orange juice, which was ok, and my husband got a Bloody Mary in the take-home owl glass. For food, I ordered the french toast, which was pretty basic. The food overall was ok, nothing to really write home about. But the service was great and the atmosphere was really cute. I wouldn't mind swinging by again to try something different if we are ever back in town.
Had breakfast here on May 23, 2025 and was served by Ania. She was Spectacular and her menu recommendations were perfect. Exceptional service and Delicious food. There is an enormous amount of Owl themed decor here and if you love Owls this is the perfect place. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Flagstaff.
