Crema's Take

This lakeside gem in Boiling Springs has carved out a loyal following with its hearty breakfast offerings and welcoming outdoor patio, making it a natural gathering spot for everyone from AT hikers to families exploring the lake. While the cozy indoor space gets bustling and loud, the specialty coffees and quality sandwiches keep regulars coming back, especially those looking for generous portions and genuine hospitality in a small-town setting. Fair warning: service can be leisurely and prices are on the higher side, but many find the lakefront location and community vibe worth the trade-off.

I can only describe this experience as deeply disappointing. We often visit Boiling Springs to enjoy the lake and walking through town. Sometimes we walk into the restaurant and order coffee and pastries before heading out of the town. Until now, those visits have always been pleasant. Last Sunday, we ordered coffee and muffins to go. As soon as we got into the car, my wife opened the container, and what we saw was disheartening, as shown in the picture. At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was simply a mistake. I went back to show the person who had served us, hoping for understanding. Unfortunately, the response I received was even more upsetting. While the order was eventually replaced, it was done in a way that felt cold and dismissive, almost as if our concern was an inconvenience rather than a valid issue. When a business fails to take pride in the quality of what it serves, it inevitably sends the message that it does not truly value its customers or itself. I have always associated Boiling Springs with positive memories, but this experience has left me saddened. What was once a place I enjoyed visiting now carries a sense of disappointment, and passing through Boiling Springs will no longer feel the same.

Nice little place by the lake. Food was okay, but pricy for the portion size. Service was a bit slow. Very, very loud in the indoor seating area. Will give dinner a try at some point.

Food is very good, had chicken fajitas, sometimes burritos, and there is another dish with carrots and potatoes and chicken in a tortilla that is very good. Across the street is the Children's Lake, with beautiful ducks and geese. I like to feed them corn, you can buy bags of corn that is prepared for the ducks, at the convenience store across the street from the cafe. There is a sign on the opposite side of the lake that tells what types of food the ducks can eat. Bread is not on the list. There are benches around the lake and it is very peaceful. On nice days you can sit outside to eat at the cafe.

We stopped in for lunch on a Monday. There was no wait for a table but it filled up quickly. It’s a small place but there is some outdoor patio seating. We ordered the ultimate bowl and a shrimp quesadilla. Both were very good. Our server was friendly and attentive. A nice view of the lake when you are finished eating or while you eat if you sit outside. I had been here once before, probably about a year ago, for a dinner meeting and had tacos - they were good as well. I’d for sure go here again.

What an awesome place in the center of Boiling Springs! They cater to AT hikers with delicious breakfast and lunch options. We enjoyed the coffees, as well as the hearty sandwiches. You can sit on the outside patio or inside the Cafe. Delightfully friendly service just a short walk from the AT with plenty of parking available.
