Crema's Take

AK Subs is a genuine neighborhood gem where the welcoming spirit of the staff matches the quality of their made-to-order sandwiches and house-made soups. There's a refreshing absence of pretense here—just honest, fairly-priced food made with care and served by people who actually remember you, all wrapped up in a cozy indoor space that feels like a local's secret. Whether you're grabbing a grilled cheese on sourdough or one of their signature creations, this is the kind of place that restores your faith in San Francisco's old-school hospitality.

I stopped by here today, after a long journey. The kind Asian lady was very, very welcoming despite me being not my most put together. She even covered a part of my drink. I love places that employ people who still have hearts.

One of the few places left in sf that isn’t bullshit. AKs is a solid sandwich place (no relationship to AK press). It tastes good, it’s fairly priced, the staff is real, and there’s no bullshit. Thank you, AK Subs.

Love the indoor vibes and it's great as a local spot to stop and get lunch. Will be coming back in the future. Loved the grilled cheese on sourdough with cheddar and mozzarella. And the fries are great as a side.

Gave this place a shot randomly, and I have to say it was fantastic! The cashier was lovely and attentive, the sandwich AND the soup were great; we ordered the Dies Decadence and their chicken soup. 10/10 food! The space is small and loud, do keep that in mind. Besides that, will absolutely come back again!

I gotta write a review. I don’t often write on google reviews but I have to. This is a no middle sandwich spot! Terry is a wonderful person and man tbh I wasn’t sure what to get but she said “imma get you a better one” and I said okay. We had a mini conversation about her friend Adonis who I also worked with and because he’s the one that brought me to AK subs. Before I let her know I knew him she was already kind and nice to me. I’ll always like a place when it’s clean looking, good vibes feeling and most importantly the person at the Register and people cooking are great people. Man thank you so much. She also gave me a side of fries lmao big ups to you TERRY😂💪🏽 PSA: I only spent I believe $16+ and it’s way better and heavier load than many many sandwiches spots in downtown area lol could even say sf.
