Crema's Take

The Hungarian Pastry Shop's hand-pulled bakery string and wall of fresh cakes create an old-world European charm that's become the unofficial living room for Columbia students and neighborhood regulars alike. The pastries—especially the carrot cake and almond horns—are genuinely excellent and made fresh daily, with prices that feel almost generous for New York. If you're after a leisurely coffee, a seat by the window, and something genuinely delicious to eat, this place delivers consistently; just expect a line and a room full of people in no rush to leave.

Best carrot cake I’ve had. Made a special one for my gf’s birthday with less than a day turnaround. Thank you! Almond horns are amazing too! Very friend service!

Hyped up pastry shop near Columbia University. The interior is cool, the waiting line long, the staff remains lovely. The pastries and cakes were nice, but to be honest, I would not travel across town just for that purpose.
