Crema's Take

Johnny's Java is a beloved early-opening neighborhood spot in Cotati that doubles as much a gathering place as it is a coffee destination, with a cozy, adorable atmosphere that's perfect for meeting friends or settling in with a laptop. Their standout strength is the food—generous breakfast burritos and impressive bearclaws that keep regulars coming back—though the coffee itself is solid rather than exceptional. The vibe here is genuinely warm and welcoming, with staff like Nikki who make you feel at home, making it an ideal spot whether you need a quick caffeine fix before work or a leisurely morning with good company.

WORST MATCHA IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE STAFF UNFRIENDLY AND HORRENDOUS PRICES. My friend and I came in and we bought one of their specials which was a cinnamon spice Matcha and then we ordered a lavender vanilla Matcha both were awful and the women working was extremely unfriendly from the moment we walked in.

Food is pretty good. I don't think they make it there though. The coffee is on par with pretty much all the other coffee shops in town. I got an Americano and they made it wrong, kind of a picky thing on my side but it was okay.

Adorable coffee shop. Cozy vibes and friendly staff. Nikki is phenomenal! One of the times I have visited, there was a painting class happening with ample room to sit and chat with whoever I came with. Love this location and its my go to for coffee in the area

Best breakfast burritos, hands down. Just stoped by randomly looking for something to wake me up and eat- their potato, egg, cheese and pork burritos is to die for. They also just started used a little grill for these and they crispy flour tortilla was so amazing. I think their salsa is house made? But it had the most perfect kick to it! Definitely recommend!!! Their chai is also really really good
