Crema's Take

Deus Ex Machina pulls off the rare trick of being both a legitimate specialty coffee destination and a genuinely cool retail experience—people drive across Orange County just for their espresso drinks and the cafe's laid-back vibe. The space itself is unusually generous with seating, including a backyard setup that feels more like a friend's creative compound than a typical coffee shop, making it perfect for lingering over a pour-over or actually getting work done on your laptop.

What to expect

Espresso-focused. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Pastries on the menu. Parking available.

One of my favorite coffee spots in LA. There's plenty of seating, the vibe is super laid back, and the staff is always warm and welcoming. The coffee is consistently great, and it's one of those places where you can actually relax and hang out for a while. Also very dog friendly.

Finally got to visit here. A great place to stop by if you love coffee and clothes. There were surprisingly more tables and seats than I expected, with a few tables in the backyard. It was quite laptop friendly, too. It has its own parking lot at the back.
