Crema's Take

This bustling farm-to-table spot near the National Mall wins you over with genuinely scratch-made cooking that honors simple ingredients—think perfectly fluffy biscuits, creamy scrambles loaded with fresh vegetables, and seasonal soups that taste like care. The lively dining room strikes that rare balance of feeling energetic without being chaotic, making it equally welcoming whether you're fueling up before sightseeing, settling in for a leisurely brunch with family, or ducking in for a quick business meeting. Generous portions, fair prices for DC, and staff who move with purpose even during the rush make it the kind of place both locals and visitors find themselves returning to.

It is in a great location. Their portions are generous, fresh scratch-made dishes, and reasonable prices for restaurants like this in DC. The location is convenient for tourists and locals. I found the service slow, but it gives you time to enjoy the moment. Some dishes have an issue with food temperature and quality, for example the crab dip. No parking in the area. Accessible place, with an elevator for the second floor/restroom. Not recommended with kids. Good cocktails yet not good desserts. A lot of people so it is loud, not easy to talk

Founding Farmers has a nice atmosphere and a large dining area that feels lively and welcoming. The service was efficient and quick, which I appreciated, especially during a busy time. I really liked the farmhouse platter; it was a great way to try a variety of items and overall very satisfying. Unfortunately, the fried chicken was a bit overcooked and dry, which was a little disappointing given how well-known the restaurant is for it. Overall, it’s a solid spot with good service and a pleasant setting, though it can get fairly noisy if you’re hoping to have longer conversations at the table.

Went to DC for a business trip with my boyfriend, and this restaurant was recommended to him. I got the spinach mushroom and onion pan scramble and it was very good. Their biscuits are the best I’ve had so far. My boyfriend had the buttermilk Maine blueberry pancakes and he liked them a lot. Enrique was our server and he was very social and helpful. Altogether good experience!

I really enjoyed eating here. It’s a very busy restaurant, so service can be a bit slower at times, but the staff is always friendly and welcoming. They were also very accommodating when it came to allergies and dietary needs, which I really appreciated. Everything we had tasted great. My only recommendation would be to add a few dairy-free options. Many of the sauces contain dairy, and even the buns are potato buns made with butter, so it was a bit limiting since I can’t have dairy. Having at least one dairy-free sauce option and a dairy-free bun would be a huge plus for guests with similar restrictions. I also think letting the staff know that the buns and sauce have dairy would be super important, as the first time I ate here over the weekend they told me the cheese was the only dairy item in my falafel burger, but it was actually the bun and sauce too - which I only found out because someone who eats there regularly and was sitting next to me told me before I ate it (thank goodness!) and the chef in the back confirmed. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely return.

Such a fantastic farm-to-table experience that we ended up going back twice during our trip to DC! Every single dish we tried was delicious. We started with the tomato soup, deviled eggs, and the fig jam prosciutto bread — all incredible and full of flavor. For our entrées, we had the meatloaf, chicken pot pie, and my personal favorite, the mushroom and sausage gnocchi. Each dish was comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. They also make their own homemade chocolate, which they sell in boxed sets to take home — of course we couldn’t resist bringing some with us. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a memorable, fresh, and flavorful meal in DC!
