Crema's Take

The Lobby's maple cardamom latte is the kind of creative specialty drink that justifies the morning wait, though inconsistent execution on other drinks (like their notoriously chunky matcha) suggests they're still finding their footing. The space itself—flooded with natural light and packed with the kind of cozy charm that draws laptop workers and weekend brunch crowds alike—makes it an easy place to linger, even if the noise level and occasional understaffing can be frustrating during peak hours. If you're after inventive coffee drinks and don't mind paying premium prices for solid pastries in an Instagram-worthy setting, it's worth the trip.

What to expect

Specialty coffee, with creative signature drinks. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu. Parking available.

The coffee shop as a whole is really great. I just need to stop ordering matchas because it has never been mixed when I get it. Lots of green chunks. I understand it's more of a coffee shop but if the matchas aren't going to be done well they shouldn't cost $9 each.

A true Minnetonka vibe inside. It was packed in the morning, but tables opened up pretty frequently. It was a great place to work from, but it is very loud inside. The maple cardamom latte was delicious! There were pastry options for food. Parking out front was busy in winter.

Charming ambiance full of lots of natural light, The Lobby offers a full coffee bar, delightful bakery case and wine and beer. A welcome addition to downtown Excelsior, I can see why it’s so popular and busy. Plenty of staff help cut down on wait times for drinks, even if…

We were here on Saturday morning and there was a line out the door. I'm not sure if they were short staffed, but only one person was making all the coffee drinks. It took more than 20 minutes to get our lattes and there were a lot of unhappy customers. There is ample seating…
