Crema's Take

Compass Point roasts their beans right there in Millvale, and you'll taste the difference from your first sip—this isn't coffee-inspired beverage territory, it's the real deal. Owner Eric creates thoughtfully crafted espresso drinks and pour overs with genuine care, backed by consistently stellar reviews praising both the quality and the welcoming vibe. If you're tired of chains and want to support a local roaster who actually knows their craft, this cozy spot delivers exceptional coffee at fair prices.

So happy to finally try this spot today! A huge bonus that they roast their own beans - you could tell (and smell) the difference with first sip. The owner, Eric, was great and helped us both find a drink we loved. I was especially fond of the Aerocano - their version of a nitro cold brew / americano. It was so bold, yet smooth and a flavor profile that I haven't quite tasted before with coffee. They also make all of their own syrups in house, which is another huge bonus. There's not much of a seating area, but he did say they are in the process of opening another location in Millvale that will be larger. Definitely go out and support this coffee shop!

If Millvale’s roads were half as good as the coffee at Compass Point, none of us would know what a 4 wheel alignment costs. They roast on site — and you can taste it. Not “coffee-inspired beverage.” Actual coffee. Bold. Rich. The kind that makes you question why you ever settled for drive-thru bean water. And then there’s Eric — owner, veteran, conversationalist, low-key philosopher, and member of a killer local band because apparently being great at one thing isn’t enough. He’ll remember your name, your drink, and exactly how you like it dialed in. Great coffee. Great people. Mild threat to your shocks on the way in. 100% recommend.

I went in to Compass today for the first time, and was delighted to find that they serve thoughtfully roasted and brewed espresso! There are a lot of coffee shops in Pittsburgh, but only a few that serve really good and interesting espresso (De Fer, Red Hawk, and Pre-Amp head that list for me). This espresso was right up there with them! The cortado that I had was bright and fruity up front, but with a chocolatey second dimension on the tail end. Truly a nice medium roast with good body! The fact that their espresso is a single origin Ethiopian is a plus in my book as well. I'm excited to have a specialty roaster on Millvale, and would highly recommend stopping in!

I cannot express fully how amazing this coffee shop is, but I'll give it my best, because they deserve it! If you are looking into being more conscious of your spending and pushing towards shopping small businesses/locally, Compass Point coffee is the perfect place to support. They believe in community and it shows. On top of their easy parking, and friendly atmosphere, they have phenomenal coffee at a great price! It's roasted right on site and you can taste the love and effort behind every sip.Eric and Rebecca are the true stars though, we find ourselves excited to go, like hanging out with some friends you've known forever, they make you feel right at home, and what a gift that is in society. These guys are doing it right. I urge you to give them a chance, you won't regret it!
