Crema's Take

While Smashed Halal Burger is still finding its footing in Lacey, their smash burgers deliver exactly what they promise—juicy patties with crispy, cheese-edged exteriors that hit the mark every time. Beyond the stellar burgers and crispy fries, their specialty drinks like the beloved dirty lemonade and creative offerings like Philly cheesesteak egg rolls show real ambition in the kitchen. If you can catch them when they're fully up and running, this spot has the makings of a genuine neighborhood favorite for families craving something beyond the usual burger joint fare.

Smashed Halal Burger is a must-try! Their original smash burgers are already a family favorite in our house, and the new menu items take everything to another level. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and chicken tacos are absolutely delicious—I honestly end up ordering at least one of everything every time because i just can’t decide one and the flavors are just that good! If you’re craving a perfectly made smash burger or want to try something new and flavorful, you will not regret coming here. Mari and her family are amazing people who truly put love into the food they cook. This is a place I would choose over and over again. Highly recommend!

Though on the pricier side, the food was good. I got the original smashed. I’m not sure if they just opened or what, but when I visited the inside was very empty with boxes and equipment lying around. It was also a cold day and almost as cold inside as it was outside. Still worth it to try the food.

So this place has a ton of potential, however when we showed up the lights were off and the open sign wasn't lit up but we saw someone go behind the counter and the door was open The place was dead and I mentioned the lights made them look closed. The cashier quickly fixed this issue and they immediately became busy. The cup of corn was luke warm and unexpected as the menu showed half cobs and it made it difficult to share. There was a communication error when I ordered two of the slider orders but that error was fixed and ended up being refunded as even after the order was corrected the item was missed and we were ready to leave by the time they came out. Sadly those ones were hot while the initial ones were room temperature. The egg rolls were supposed to be the Philly ones which are advertised as being served with cheese sauce and we received some sort of buffalo sauce instead which was still tasty. The egg rolls were hot and delicious. The fries were tasty, however they were also only room temperature which was disappointing. The cashier was very polite and the younger child was a delight as well. This family owned business has so much potential and with a little more organization, preparation and consistency it could easily be one of the best spots in town. I look forward to coming back in a few months when they have it together more.

All in all I enjoyed my burger but the restaurant needs a bit of development to receive five stars from me. The Good: burgers a juicy and the cheese fried along the edges just as a smash burger should be! Their burger sauce was a classic mix of other sauces which I enjoyed.I could do with less salt but that may just be my preference. The Fries: plentiful and hot. I upgraded to the garlic parm fries but found them to be bland and average quality. They lacked both the peanut oil fried flavor of some competitors or any seasoning other than salt. Which brings me to my first gripe: $1.50 upcharge for seasoning on the fries? Even the garlic parmesan fries lacked flavor so just a pile of fries would be disappointing. The spot: no frills here. Cash register, chairs, tables, TV. Empty walls and lack of decor are not the most inviting. The Service: Great! Friendly and fast -- all I need for a lunch spot. All in all I would say the restaurant provides a good, fast, burger at a reasonable price, but is lacking in the other offerings. My recommendations would be reduce or remove the up charge on the fry seasoning (fun fries) or add more value to the $1.50 upgrade such as sauces, nacho cheese, jalapenos, etc. Invest in some wall art or decor to make the location more inviting. The menu could be developed a tiny bit to offer more variety, combos (maybe a $6.50 meal deal that includes seasoned fries and and drink.) Regardless I will be back for what they do best: a quick, reasonably priced smash burger.
